BRD can sleep them no problem from what I see.

      Re: Hate ToAU

I've heard rumors that they're smart enough to cast stun during long spell cast by enemies. I've also heard that they'll sleep you if you try and run.
      True and true.

I was shocked. It was like watching my worst AI fears come true...

The imps are AWESOME exp/merits! Have to have a tight pt though because you have to be smart about not getting aggro and such. Amnesia is a pain though.

          Re: Hate ToAU

I'm still a little nonplussed with the expansion. I do love all the new concepts, jobs, an giant city, and new items, but i'm kinda miffed by the fact that there are no new lowbie zones (unless i've totally overlooked them)

I've owned the game since the NA PC release, quit for a while, then came back. Been playing for over a year now since I started up again, but my highest level is BLM35. I'm one of those strange players that can go months without gaining a couple hundred xp, and be totally happy exploring, crafting, and questing.

I PUP though, SE just needs to implement some higher level attachments.

Can't wait for all the other new content, especially the choco breeding/racing

            Re: Hate ToAU

There are already plenty of lowbie areas to level though. The problem is no one wants to lvl in them because well.... I don't really know why honestly. Any new lowbie areas would have to practically give you exp for zoning in to get people out of quifm, kazham, and what not.

ok first to start. My highest lvl is my pld currently at 33 and i've gone on to accomplish two of the three job quests. I do feel somewhat left out on the fact that the new areas are purely designed for higher lvls but all thats done is urge me on more to gain the lvls i need to be able to enjoy this new exspasion more. The new areas are great and the fact that there are finally some new mobs to fight is a added bonus. I think you should give the exspansion another go. Especially blue mage I'm not a fan of the mage jobs but damn is it fun. Once i finsih pld i plain on takeing that all the way to 75. Good luck man. don't give up on it yet.

I'm actually not sure if I'll get the new expansion, but from what you guys have been saying, sounds great! I'll definitely give it some thought.

                    Re: Hate ToAU

I like the new jobs. I think so far that they are nicely done and added just a bit of new "flavor" to a game that was feeling a little stale.

I also like the feel of the new area. It's got it's own style that's really intresting. I'm a sucker for new lore and story.

I am however, quite disappointed at the level range all of the new zones have. It seems counter productive to me to (what seems to me) lure in some new blood and get some older players to return, only to have a large portion of them be completely unable to enjoy all these new areas.

Aside from that, i think the new expansion is pretty cool.

                      Re: Hate ToAU

For me, ToAU has been excellent so far!

As a mid-60s warrior, I absolutely love Mt. Zhayolm. The variety of mobs you can find there within a stone's throw is excellent -- I've seen, and partied in, several possible camp locations with access to Crawlers, Pugils, Crabs, and Flies. From 65-68 these enemies will be primarily low-IT to mid-VT. As always, Pugils and Crawlers link, and I think the Flies do too (we decided not to exp on them due to the AOE).

Burn- and traditional-style parties alike thrive here. My first group here (WHM, BLM, NIN, PLD/NIN, WAR/NIN x2) pulled in around 7,000-9,000 exp per hour with consistent Chain #6s, with a couple of chain 7/8/9s thrown in. The second group (WHM, BLM, BRD, NIN, THF, WAR/NIN) did nearly as well, pulling consistent chain 5s with a few 6s for 6,000-8,000 exp per hour. Most importantly, the fights were enjoyable, and didn't feel like the horrible grind to which we're so accustomed. The monsters in ToAU seem to have less HP than their Quon/Mindartia counterparts, which is a definite plus; of course, their AI seems to be better, so they can be significantly more dangerous! The best part is, these areas aren't overcrowded, and there's plenty of alternative, isolated camps within each zone.

Those pests, imps, are quite the little bastards. I've not yet figured them out. I experienced fighting them as Paladin earlier this week, and it was by no means easy. They have so many tools (including advanced BLM spells) at their disposal that their good AI makes them hellish to fight. There wasn't a single battle in which they forgot to hit me with Amnesia -- and let me tell you, it's hard for a defense-based paladin to hold hate without access to his abilities, with a hyperactive warrior and a skilled ranger in the party. Add in that they frequently use silence, and you've got a much more menacing version of those ol' Toramas. Perhaps I'd forgive them for being hard to tank, but their true sight and, from what I've seen, erratic movement "patterns" make them my most-hated mob type. I owe them a couple of deaths (2 from trying to sneak past them, 1 while partying).

In terms of missions, I rather enjoy that, so far, the storyline has been accessible without a need to organize an elite group of level 75 players to get anything done. I really like the setup so far, wherein the Assault missions are an embellishment rather than a requirement (although I find Assault missions enjoyable, already a number of fools on my server are settling into the "my way or the highway" approaches even though the expansion is barely two weeks old). The quests so far have revealed interesting takes on morality, society, and utility, presenting characters that one can view in a number of ways rather than as one-dimensional morality-play figures.

I've enjoyed the new fishing locales so far, although I'm disappointed at the as-yet few options for using those fish for cooking purposes. And I must admit my delight at the colorful new icons used for several of the new fish -- they really make it more enjoyable to fish everything regardless of usefulness!

Beseiged, which I initally felt was disappointing due to the ease of the first couple of instances, has turned into something quite fun. I had an opportunity to fight the Undead Swarm earlier today: since the turn-out was low, and less than 100 people were in the Bastion, it was quite a contest! Despite their "Level 1" status, they managed to defeat a large portion of the players in the area (including myself, twice), before finally retreating. I don't know why they chose to retreat, given how well they were doing, but I was on the ground at the time, so I can't make any judgements.

Even though I wasn't gung-ho about the expansion ahead of time (the idea of an Arabian-based civilization didn't really interest me), it's turned out to be a great investment, much more enjoyable than I expected.

I'm glad that they added more to the endgame. There is plenty of stuff for me to do in the low to middle game already, and now when I get to the endgame there will be even more waiting for me.^^

the OP of this thread obviusly never really experienced the new Expansion.
there are nice quest with great rewards. (for example the vit+4 throwing item which is better then rosnbogen 0.0 )

How can the new jobs be boring ? i mean there are not more or less boring then any other job in game atm ...
Also the Cutscenes in the new job quests are great.

i really like ToAU but i also liked CoP

                          CoP=Complete RoZ=Complete ToAU=Mission 8
Blade:Jin, a wicked badass 3-fold skill that totally outparses ridill WARs and Blackbelt monks and averages 700-1300.

How can you guys forget the music. I love the music that comes along with the new zones.

Seriously the jobs are pretty neat. BLU is like a RDM & a SAM mixxed. PUP is like a BST and a MNK mixxed. COR is like a RNG and a BRD mixxed. It's really interesting to me ^^

I hate learn blue magic though . . . . . god the pain *shudders*

I actually Yelled for my GF to come listen to the music the first time i zoned into Nashamu... Nassema... Nas-[tab]. We got our grove on.

I have to admit the some aspects of the expansion seemed rushed, PUP being the best example.

BLU is very well thought out (1st announced job), COR needs some small gear adjustments (2nd announced job), but PUP needs a lot more work (3rd job announced and the job that had the least amount of time before expansion was released).

Heck you can even tell PUP was a rush job from it's unlock quest. No nifty cutscenes, and no where near as cool of a story as blu or cor.

lack of missions is an indicator too.

I'm REALLY REALLY looking forward to updates.
