Re: claiming test... doesn't seem to change ?

Odd thing happened in Qufim tonight. I was lfp and a guy ran by with a weapon and a couple bones on him, so I voked the weapon and hit perfect dodge and started running for the zoneline. About halfway there a friendly rdm throws gravity on it, claiming it, and then runs off. The weapon goes after him - ever so slowly. So I run back to where I was by the guard and the weapon, still purple, runs past me and disappears. I figure the rdm has hate, the rdm has claim, I'm safe. So I stand there chatting for a few minutes when all of a sudden this weapon - still purple - runs up and smacks me to death.

Wtf? The rdm had to have gotten more hate from the weapon with his Gravity than I had on it from my voke and 2H or he wouldn't have gotten claim and aggro. It was still on him for a long time, or it wouldn't have run past me and then far enough into Qufim and then taken a few minutes to return. But yet at some point I got above the rdm on the weapons hate list. This means one of two things. Either I accumulated hate from resting even though I was so far from the weapon I couldn't see it, or my hate decayed at a slower rate than the rdm's.

Either way, I'm confused as to why the rdm still had claim when the mob came back to beat me down, even though several minutes had passed since he took any action on it. I wish I had been paying better attention to see if it was still purple when it despawned, but I was still stunned at the surprise death at the time. It did despawn instead of running off after the rdm, though ...

Re: claiming test... doesn't seem to change ?

I re-skimmed the thread, but didn't see it mentioned:

If you have your puppet attack a mob, the mob will stay yellow until you do something to it. People in my LS mentioned it first, but I saw it first hand tonight.

There was also the time when I was coffer key/testimonial hunting in Ozt. A mage in another party started casting stun on a yagudo. Then, the mnk in my pt Chi Blasted it. On my screen, it looked like his Chi Blast went off before the stun. On his screen, he said the stun went off.

In either case, the yagudo stayed yellow for quite a while (5ish seconds) while the Mnk and I fought it. Then, it turn red (claimed by the mnk and I).

The new code is buggy as hell.

Yeah, the claiming behavior is messed up. Today, an unclaimed bogy was chasing some poor sap through Gusgen mines, and I flashed it. I got hate, and the bogy turned around, came after me, but remained unclaomed. The person it agro'd on did not do anything other than normal agro it.

Yup. I Dia'd it after hit hit me three or four times, and it claimed immidiately. I was waiting cause I assumed it was just lag that didn't let it claim, but it claimed perfectly on Dia.

That's what I saw tonight with the Pup. While the puppet fought it stayed yellow, then the Pup casted Dia and instantly claimed it.

I was running around on my BST and saw some guy aggro and then start to run from a goblin ambusher in valkurm. (He cast no spells and used no JAs.) I charmed the thing and it still wouldn't claim for anybody, even though it was smacking me. A few seconds later a BLM powerleveling some random person leveling a new job stunned it, claiming it.

The rdm likely got beat up which caused him to lose more hate, putting you at the top of the hate list. The change only affects the act of claiming, not who keeps the claim. Otherwise, you would see HNM claim hopping between alliances as one tank fights the other tank for max hate. For example: Tank1 is on top of hate, but gets hit and suddenly tank2 in the other alliance has most hate. By your logic, claim would swap then to the other alliance. That would be really bad for the HNM scene and isn't how these new changes work.

Yes, yes. I understand that. But It had been long enough that Gravity had worn off. When you go for that long without acting on a claimed mob it should go yellow, right?

I was farming Zi'tah the other day with my war and I run up and smack a goobbue in the back for a good 150 dmg w/ my Gaxe. It turns to me, takes a swing and then turns away. A lvl 75 bst who was also farming there sent his shroom pet on the same goobbue I JUST HIT and it started taking hate. I voked, used JAs, shot bolts, but the goobbue would only turn around long enough to smack me once, then turn back to the shroom. He eventually got claim on something I attacked first.

There are a lot of problems with this new claiming system that needs to be worked out -.-

I agree that something has changed.

I noticed it the past few days when I fight mob A and then turn to fight mob B. I let the damage over time from some spells (Dia, poison...etc) kill mob A while I kill mob B. Lately it seems that after I kill mob B, it takes me a long as time to claim mob A (I'm hitting it with spells and weapons and it still doesn't claim). Sometimes I even don't get exp b/c mob A's HP doesn't turn purple.

I had a lil field test myself and found out somethinf rather peculair.

A Lvl 60 PLD couldn't claim a mob when he Provoked a Lit Elemental. I don't think Flash did either. Took like 2 hits before it was claimed.

There was an instance where 10/PLD, 30/PLD, and a 60/PLD was hitting the same mob until it was finally claimed.

No more Provoke'n to save someone?
