XP Bots o.O

Hihi.
Today I experanced something very disturbing. I was wondering if anyone else had something like this happen to them.

Our PT finally got together, and went to the tree to level on procassionaries, (however you spell it). We got to camp, blah blah.

Our RDM was very, very bad. He would refresh ok, never helped to heal. He casted dispel a few times.. But never at the right time. It would have no effect. All his spells were cast in an order. Drain, aspir. He would cast a debuff randomly, it seemed, Slow once, silence once. (Keep in mind this lasted 4-5 battles)

He would never respond to the party. We stopped, and then I accused him of being a bot. Told him crawlers don't have MP, he never dispelled correctly, and they don't cast spells. NO REPLY.
Nothing. So I told the PT leader to boot him, i was going to escape. PT leader didn't boot him, so I ran off too far for the rdm to get escape and told them I was going to cast there. Note all of this was in /p. Nothing was in /tell.

Anyway, he soon casted escape after my escape macro went off. No warp, just escape. I am thinking that if it was a bot, it has word recongintion. For some reason he didn't think to add dispel to this mix... He soon came back after we were in Zi'tah, like a minute or so.

Anyway, do you suppose this was a bot? Unless he was 'effing with us, I don't see what else it could be. I was talking to one other player, and they said he was bad as well. One of my friends a long time ago told me about a WHM bot he had in his party, around level 30.
Has this happened to anyone else?

ya bots exist. I've heard of exp bots before too.

For jobs like meles and whm's it's not nearly as noticable. For busier jobs like rdm it's an aboslute travesty.

I haven't heard of a nin/tank bot yet. I think the algorythms for that must be too difficult to make acceptably short.

I've had a whm bot in a pt in valkrum dunes. The only reason I knew was because the guy says "hey can you guys pull something easy just this next mob? I want to try this bot thing and I don't want to get anyone killed"

We had a rdm and whm in pt so we didn't really care. ANyways, long story short, for whming, the guy explained afterwards it was easy cause all you had to do was make the bot see yellow hp and cast cure whatever on it till it no longer saw yellow.

The bot also rests mp apparently too. Never did figure out how but from what you were saying I bet everytime it sees "Not enough MP" or "you gained ### experience points" it makes the bot sit down till someone is in yellow hp again.

It didn't work on poison which was funny because sometimes the players would get poisoned down to yellow and the bot would stand up and cure but no poisona and didn't sit back down cause no sit down line for that scenario I guess.

Yes ppl bot in exp parties. I've seen it. it's crappy as all get out. I can't imagine why you even bother to play if it was so boring you had to use a bot.

Yea he changed to dark staff and rested after the battle, I am not sure if he rested mid battle or not. I wish now that he got poisoned during battle. Hehe would've been even more funny.

I was kinda yelling at him in /tell when he came back. He was pretty slow to respond. Was trying to get him to admit he used a bot >.> Didn't work heh.

even if I was a complete crap player, thankfully im not, If someone asked me if I was bot , I would say nothing.

remember these days people get PL for everything and still dont understand their job. Also some people english suck so bad that they can join a PT but cannot hold a conversation.

as for the aspir on crawlers, Iv eseen people aspir bats and bones and use spells on bones that dont affect them. So it could just as easily be a crap player and not a bot^^.

Casting spells like that could also be the player lvling his/her enfeebling magic as well.

it's amazing how smart programmers are aren't they...

anyway i PT with a european WHM once. He couldn't speak english nor Japanese and only speak french... -.- and my god not only we couldn't communicate, he was level 55 with no raise 2, no cure 4, no stona. it's a nightmare

Level Up bots definately exist.

Their performance in parties is rediculously poor because some of the things you need to do are far too complex to program in a simple script.

But I know of a WHM bot that simply casts cure based on party members HP Percentage (which is easily extracted from the Data Memory by a 3rd party software). Adding in the ability to debuff in a fixed order, or to dispel on certain TP attacks wouldn't be very difficult with a log parser.

Or it could just be a crappy player, an account buyer, or a legitimate player's younger sibling having fun on the account not really knowing what he's doing.

I had one of these characters in yuhtunga once. I was absolutely sure it was a bot.

The most obvious giveaway? It parsed the damn chatlog, and put it into its own /p macro.

For example, let's say I said "It's a good day"

The bot would say something alone the lines of "Yeah and it's crazy its a good day" almost immediately afterwards. It did this over 3 times in the pt, as well as /p pull after EVERY death.

I kicked him from the PT, and his /say macro went off.
"Thanx for pt it was fun"

He just sat there for the rest of the day.

Yep had one in a pt in Altepa, a blm. I knew because I know the person in real life. I told the pt leader privately but he didn't believe me so he kept him. The guy bragged to me before he went afk "LOL watch how much exp I get and I don't have to be a slave to this game!"

I hate to say it but it wasn't bad. It wasn't anything to brag about either though. It just kept doing the same set of things over and over and it only cured when someone was in the red. It would stand up and do debuffs, sit for 20 secs, stand up and nuke, sit for 20 secs, stand up and re-debuff only a couple spells and throw in a nuke and there was the occasional cure. Overall preformance was a C. I've seen worse, I've seen better. Oh but he rarely did get aggro! LOL

From the simple destription it sounds pretty bad to me -.-

Why the hell would I want a BLM that isn't going to be part of the SCs? Because someone didn't want to sit there and put the effort he has to hinder the rest of party in getting better EXP?

i had something liek that for my MNK when i leveld (I dont do this anymore ><;; it got me killd a bunch) Basicaly what i did was i had a remote for my PC and macrod in a set of commands so as i was watching TV i would hear the Pull sound, and hit "1" the hear and atack and hit "2" and every once in a while id hit other #'s to do a SC or something. Now you gotta realize that my PC is in another room from my PC so i had no idea what really was happening and i never replied. I also asked before hand not to be in the SC. anyway i noticed that me doing it was just me being an ass and now i play upfront and honest (Also doing it that way gets you killd alot when pty escapes or trys to sleep something.

Agreed, why would you pay 15 bucks a month (or whatever it is) and not do anything apparently. That kind of stuff spreads like wildfire, it wont be long before it gets out and its nearly impossible for them to get an invite. Plus, ITS THE WHOLE GAME!!! If you have a bot to exp, a bot to fish or whatever and make money, a bot to camp NM's, what else is there? Even if its for endgame, they cant seriously want to bot for months and months and months only to play like shit on a god or something and get raped for it. I pose a question:
