  • Easiest way to raise Windurst fame?

I used to buy Cornettes from bastoks music shop and turn them in for fame in windurst, but I dont know what the fuck the moron devs did, but the shop no longer sells cornettes, so I'm screwed.

How else can I raise windurst fame?

Beehive Chips to someone near the Dalhmel Farm

Sardines to a taru girl near the fishing guild

Personally, I did it with Sardines.
    Took forever too.

Bastok only sells cornettes as long as they are in 1st or 2nd place. On caitsith they are almost always in 3rd, so I just caught it on a lucky week and did it.

Goto Alakhazams and do every quest on it. Thats how I upped fame in Sandoria and Bastok, took me a few days of on and off grinding.

It's easier i find to get good fame buy doing lots of small unique quests and the odd big one then do 1 over and over a few times.

I did this in bastok. About 20 unique and just repeated 1 for an hour or so and had enough fame for Teleport Dem quest.

That way you are not spending 3k per stack on beehive chips and quite often the unique quests have rewards which sell for more than the cost to do it.

The problem with doing the sardine quest is that after you give the NPC a sardine, you have to zone out of the area, then back in, and then you can give her another sardine.... Very time consuming. I personally just did a ton of unique quests.

Another thing you could do is hunt crawlers in West Sab. Get 3 Crawler Calculi, 1 Smooth Stone, and turn them in for 800 bucks in total I think... You'll even get the odd Silk Thread while doing this, which sells for 10k for a stack on Odin... This is time consuming as well, but at least your making some cash while doing it. $.$

What is Fame used for? I have not done one quest in Windhurst and have only been getting my rank up with missions. Should I go back to Windy and complete these quests?

Will I be penalized for not doing them?

You won't be penalized but eventually you will probably want fame in windurst(or anywhere else for that matter) to do some high lvl quest. For example summoner avatars. So the sooner you work on your fame the less you'll have to worry about it later.

Also any windurst quests you do add to your jeuno fame so every bit helps.

                      Do the Yagudo Bead Quest...

The NPC is Nanaa Mihgo, in Wind. Woods. She's @ the very top of the Map.

Just head out into Giddeus, and slaughter some Yagudo's for their necklaces. You'll raise Windy fame, as well as your Norg Fame. Good stuff, IMO.

Having done the Yagudo Bead Necklace quest about 270 times myself for Norg fame, and seeing no shift in Windurst fame, I am going to say that this quest probably raises Norg fame only. An LS mate who did this 250 times, and had level 2 Windurst fame to start with also saw no shift. I currently have 9 Bastokan, 9 San d'Orian, 7 Norg, 7 Windurst.

The quest "Mandragora Mad" which you can repeat with (cheap) Cornettes apparently lowers Bastokan fame. So while you may earn Windurst fame, if you've got a lot of Bastok fame you actually end up being crapped on. I lost 1/15th (by price) of my fame in Bastok by doing 32 repeats of Mandragora Mad. I've done over 100 repeats in Bastok trying to repair that damage, but I can't seem to shake it off (I've been tempted to page a GM even.) So from what I can tell you end up net losing, as you face at least 100 Bastok repeats to repair 32 repeats worth of Windurst fame by doing Mandragora Mad. The only other quest which apparently lowers another city's fame is "Only The Best" in Selbina, which seems to counter Norg Fame, but is an amazingly cheap way to get hero in Bastok and San d'Oria.

As for good Windurstian repeats, there really aren't any that aren't ridiculously time consuming, require you to zone, or cost you about 200-400 gil a repeat on my server.

                        I hope this helps.

Can anyone verify this? Because I highly doubt that any repeatable quest would lower fame in another area. It just sounds ridiculous to me. If it is true, just point me to a source that would verify this.

                            Here is what I did:

                            1. I was Hero fame (9) in bastok and fame (5) in Windurst.
                            2. I could buy cornetter for 219g.
                            3. Then I did 32 cornettes and got fame (7) in Windurst.
                            4. Checked cornette price again, at the time it was 222g.
                            5. Did another 32 cornettes and got fame (8) in Windurst.
                            6. Checked fame in Bastok, I still be Hero fame (9).

So I don't think this quest would reduce Bastok fame. Thought I still have no idea how it effect NPC venders price. IMO it may not depend only fame, but also PC customer demands in that week, possible ^^? . I would check cornette price again after tally (if Bastok won't let me down by being 3rd place again ).
