I'm sorry for setting up "rules" then. I'm not a mod, but WE want to do something about this problem SOME OF US want to try to organize this and don't want to be flamed by other members. It's not unfair at all to say, "this isn't an opinionated thread. We are doing something and we need your help." All I'm seeing is, "Oh, you want to do something? Well, I dont' think you should"

Hell, I never said you can't view it, nor did i say you couldn't post in it. However, if you're going to post in it, at least put something productive. This is just ridiculous. You wonder why we can't get anything done about this. I'm asking for peoples help. If you don't want in on it, then fine. But don't bother us by saying, "what you're doing shouldn't be done." We understand that opinion is out there, but we didn't ask for it. Make another thread for it. Some of us want to make this LS and this thread was put into place so we could make that happen.

The forums here are in place, for many, as an AID FOR IMPORTERS. We're trying to do something for importers. Just b/c YOU don't want it doesn't mean OTHERS don't. If you dont' want it, fine. Leave the thread; no one is forcing you to agree. If you don't want to go along with it, but have some helpful input by all means share! We may need the help.

I haven't read all of the posts in this thread and the other thread (was too long to read, hehe) but I thought I'd give some thoughts about the new LS if it is gonna be made. Personally, I agree with both making, and not making a LS of this type. The idea of a strong community for everyone is good, but the problem is you won't get to become close friends with anyone coz every conversation is just gonna be mad spam in chat log.

The level of the leader is not the most important thing for any LS in my opinion, rather, the ability to handle conflicts is most admired. Unless this is an LS intended for hunting HNMs and stuff, having a good knowledge of the game is good enough to be a leader of the LS.

One mistake that I think many people are starting to make is drawing parallels with level and respect. You may respect someone for their accomplishments in game (ie. level 65, supreme rare equip n such), but I think respect comes from more than just that.

From the original posts, I have a feeling that the objective, or intention of this new LS is to build a new community for interested players in game. Since the LS may turn into a huge gathering of players, I strongly recommend that the leader be someone with patience and ability to resolve conflicts (better if it was ability to avoid conflicts).

As for colors, hmm, I think bright colors are always good.

i actually thought up something intelligent to say (i hope). here we go:

sheila and kirie, i do not intend for this to be a flame, but rather a plea. what if, in fact, seymoure DOES have self-esteem problems? not only would your remarks hurt him, but it will scar him. im just saying that something could actually happen to him in real life if he does indeed have these problems. maybe if you could take that into consideration? i have the greatest respect for anyone who speaks their minds, but some people do actually take it personally. i just don't want another "EverQuest-man" thing to happen...

seymoure, your thought is good, i will help you. but keep in mind that there will always be nay-sayers, it's a part of life. if they do agree with you, then more power. if not, then just deal and move on.

Ok, I'm going to throw my two cents in now as well... *waves to Vivid first*

I saw Ethos' first paragraph then ignored the rest, thinking to myself wow that's a good idea. Then I got to Kirie and Sheila's posts (Hey Sheila, you from Merchant Guild/Pontera Parrish? I swear I've seen that name and avitar before) and I was maddened. I was like, Man, that was meen, he was just trying to make a big LS so everyone can meet everyone. So I kept reading posts and kept reading and was like, wow, so meny paraphases I've not seen.. So I went back up and looked over the ENTIRE to posts by Ethos and Seymour. I got madder then when I read Kirie's and Sheila's posts. I was amazed how they took a good idea and slapped something so irritating on it. It was like they were the american government, putting a 'dogs can no longer poop on the sidewalk in down town' addendum to a bill that is for the political restructuring of the congress >.< I was stupified.
Now I just wanna take a step back for a moment now that I got some people worked up and say, I do like the HUGE LS idea, and will be game to help in any way. Of course Lavian is in Vivid's LS, and Rhyste will be in Legion, so Chibiyume will be the only one able to join ^_^ But still, it is at the very least a way to meet new people. I am always game for meeting new people, if you meet 3 new people, a day soon you will forget all the annoying people you met ^_- Heehee!
Back to the main topic, I belive PiNG should _NOT_ run it. No Mod or anyone else like that for that matter either, it's like starting a protest with 30 scantly clad hooters girls. After an hour sure you will have hundreds of people joining your protest, but they don't give a damn about what you are protesting, they just wanna see the hooters girls. (Laymens terms, you are trying to get people to join because someone 'cool' and and stuff is running it.)
Seymore, I see your resoning on how this LS might work as there are alot less importers (or natives like me!) that are playing FFXI. I have no doubt that there will be alot less n00b, but that still won't stop people's attitudes from clashing. Birds of a feather, even in a game, still flock together. If you got diffrent feathers, get the flock out >.< That's how it's allways been. People will clash, n00bs or not. Almost every guild I've been in on every MMORPG has gotten reall bad IMHO once they got to big. That's one of the reason I like being in the little guilds as well, it is a much tighter family. Big guilds the high lvl people don't hang out with the low lvl people, no reason to, to meny other people to hang out with. *shrugs* I can go on forever, but will let someone flame me first ^_^

I doubt he's any more common than the typical wealthy and spoilt, yet somehow *always depressed* and attention craving drama queen teen. More likely he's just another anti-social person who expects loyalty to come out of a hat. Take a look at the people he listed, (it reminds me of the closed thread Tomoh started on great players) I know for a fact some people he regards as buddies don't have anything at all to say to him.

Anyways, what would you have us do? Be his parents? Or feed his problem by being fake friends who agree to everything he says?

If you guys could just get down to the essentials and stop arguing about circumstantial typical forum bullshit (e.g. Quoting someones post selectively for lines you can pick out, take out of context, and scrutinize, while ignoring the original content as a whole, as well as other remaining points), you could solve something. The original argument was about whether or not there should be a importer LS.

If you want to disagree, don't attack the other persons character. Attack their point instead.

If you want to stop the argument, then don't indirectly start it up in a new thread and say the opposing side can't join in.

For what it's worth, I agree that putting the burden on Ping is ridiculous. What if Ping doesn't want to do it? I sure as hell wouldn't. Infact I don't see why he doesn't have this whole fucking site taken down

Anyways, I'm sure you are aware when you make your LS this is what is happening and gonna happen:

Nobody will want to lead and moderate it.

Once it's created you will have a ton of new players join in.

Someone is gonna go on the clan-bandwagon and recruit anyone and thing like hell.

The LS will be full of spam, annoying repeating questions, or questions for everything. Apparently people use LSes with "many people" online for this, no matter how long they've been ingame they just want their questions answered instead of getting up off their ass and finding answers themselves.

After a while the differences of opinion and "disagreeing = flame" thing resumes it's course (since everyone involved apparently SHARES that notion).

The leader(s) will hate to start removing people because they worked so hard to get people to join, plus they don't want the person being kicked out to go against them.

The leaders will then go on un-explained absences and leave handling of the LS to other people. Lack of communication among them wreaks havoc with gay LS drama. In turn never getting the full stories of who did what and why someone needs a good kicking.

The people kicked out will do this to the ACTIVE leaders involved in kicking them out:
