I know another topic was closed, but I want to get the names of anyone interested in a new link shell. I think one side has a valid point to make, and I don't see why it's not fair for the people who agree with a new LS to make a new one. Also, come up with some names and colors you would like to see used. If you don't want to be part of this, fine; but we don't want to hear it here.
So, this forum will be ONLY for people who agree with this, and that's completely valid. So, no flaming. If you want to be apart of this, lets organize it and do it right. Here's a post i made awhile ago in the old thread, but it never made it up b/c it was closed before I could send it:
I'm totally with you on this Seymour.
When I first started out on FFXI last year, the best part of it was meeting people and playing with people who shared my interests. I remember meeting Abknight in Windurst after running there from SandOria. It's things like that that we'll remember 5 years from now. I don't remember what quests I did, or who I waved ambiguously to as I ran back to the city. What I will remember are the people I met, and the fun I had with them.
Basically, I think it's totally rational to have an LS for importers. With me, I have a hard time playing the game because of class, and I would love to be able to sign on and ask some fellow importers if they'd like to PT with me. Also, it can sometimes get lonely playing by yourself. Laugh, but we all know it's true. One of the beauties of Final Fantasy XI is the cooperation and the small community that is built around the game. We all remember how hard it was when we first started out, and the LS would be a huge service to newcomers. But, even more than that, it's a service to us players who have put in tons of hours to get to our level 60. We want to share the moment with our friends, and it's totally acceptable to make an LS where we can do that. No one should sit back and say, "well, that's just like NG" because it shouldn't be BASED off of NG. NG failed; learn from their mistakes. Many people have matured in the world of FFXI, and the game isn't so new to them. It's very likely that they'll stay away from spamming the chat b/c they know it's not appropiate. Also, if you don't want to be a part of it, then fine. However, there are tons of people who would love to join this. FFXI is a social game, and in order to be social you need to have people to socialize with. Many of us don't have the time or resources to meet tons of great players and befriend them. It sometimes helps to have someone in the middle.
I, for one, would love to be a part of this new LS and would love to see someone like PiNG make it and establish it as THE import LS. Maybe even name it "The Importer's Haven"? Something like that. Many of us will be on our own smaller LS's, but it'd be a huge help to have one basic one join us all in the huge community that we call Vana Diel. If you don't agree with it, fine. You didn't like NG? Fine. Instead of complaining about the past, however, we should look at why it was a problem and how we can fix it. Simply complaining and not offering any suggestions is counterproductive and should be posted in a different thread. Seymour didn't ask what was wrong with NG, nor should he have to hear about it. This thread is meant to look at a problem and solve it, not ramble on and cry about the problem but offer no solutions. I think Seymour has the right idea with this all and I hope that it will go forward in a way that it benefits all importers. Thank you, Seymour, for addressing a problem that is in the minds of many players.
