  • The NeoGundan Rules

    A few days ago I accidently disconnected after inviting 3-5 people to PT, and i got a little speech from Laquincain afterwards. Appearently, I broke one of NG's main rules, but I was never told there were any rules. Anybody mind clueing me in on these ;
I was walkin' down the road
    got hit by a bus
    got scraped off the street
    but didn't make a fuss
    didn't say a word
cuz it's not nice to cuss
    but sue their rears off

Well...It's not so much an NG rule as it is general MMORPG etiquette...

You never disconnect abruptly or without announcement unless it is out of your control, and in the event that happens, you'll want to return, explain, make ammends, etc...

Did Fuehrer Cainy:sweat: know it was an accident?

        I wish.

Before the PC version was out, all those things above have happened to us PS2 players. Just not as often as they do now.

Xmas season was the worst, servers probably left un-monitored and people were dropping like flies.

3 Main rules of Neogundan are:

                No cursing
                No offensive chatting
No behavior that would give us importers a bad name with the JP Players

This is stated whenever I pass out a pearl to any new member. Regarding the incident above, I learned about it from a JP player who Q offended and who I happened to know personally. Claimed the previous night Q invited him into his PT and the kicked him out for no reason and then on the night in question, invited him again, but passed leadership to him, left the PT, and then joined another one without saying anything. So the person complained to me immediately, so I went directly to Q. At that time Q never stated anything about disconnecting and offered no explanation for his actions. I demanded he apologized, which he did and the offended player forgave Q. Of course there are always 2 sides to a story, but Q should have at least try to explain himself even before it got to me.

After reading what Cain said, and what you said just here, you shouldn't be playing this game.

I get DCed from time to time. I always say "sumimasen otosaremashita TT," which means "Sorry. I was disconnected"

BTW, I also get complaints from my PT members about English speaking players. Mostly on frustration of not being able to communicate in PT. I tell them to be understanding and that importers have it tough.

If you have severe language barrier, I suggest you change your job to WHM, BLM, or BRD. Jobs that allow u to PT w/o conversing and figuring out WS combo. The game is all about cooperation and courtesy. PT shouldn't have to suffer beacuse you can't figure out what the WS combo is. Besides, u will get into PTs easier and level up quicker.

WHM: statuses, MGS, people asking you for certain spells, knowing what other members have casted/are casting, knowing when to expect to heal someone for a great amount of HP because the monster is using an ability or a member is using an ability like darkness

BLM: sure you can go ahead and ignore everyone and cast whatever, but more often than not people will want you to help in curing/status recovery/MGS. you also have to know the elements and what to MB with (and how), when people have asked you to help put a train to sleep or escape..

BRD is not a simple do whatever job, I think Far can elaborate on this. On rare instances a BRD also will participate in renkei.

WHM, BLM and BRD require just as much japanese and game knowledge as any other class.

Importers coming into a japanese server, should expect to "have it tough" and should be learning to accomodate the players. Not the other way around.

Yes, one of the keys of being a mage type character is to know what your PT members need. Especially something like paralyze, slow, darkness. If the Japanese members are asking you to cure those effects and you don't know what they mean, you're probably not going to give them a good impression

As what a bard should do in a PT... Mostly you can get by with just observing what the PT does and try to do your best to enhance their abilities, but sometimes the PT fights in a bad "formations" that you have to tell them where they should be fighting (for ex, mages group together away from the fight for ballad) Knowing what songs to use against the enemies is crucial too. (for ex, wind serenade when the enemy can cast spells, and finale when a beetle does its shield special)

As for bard participating in renkei, you'll probably be included as "number 0" in the renkei order, and join in when your TP is charged up. You can join in the renkei about every 2 or 3 battles. Until you learn ballad2 that is... by then you'll probably be too busy singing that you won't get a change to hit the enemy

I see your point Sheila. I made a simple statement based on many Japanese players complaints regarding the melee job playing importers. I do agree strongly that the importers need to make an effort to learn the status healing spell names for WHM and if you are going to be a front line job, then to learn (memorize) types of weapons, numbers and WS names when playing in a PT. 1 or 2 bad experiences in playing with an importer is all it takes for a Japanese player to generalize all importers as being difficult to play with.

Im a warrior who speaks 0 japanese. I say if you import and you dont know japanese then go with warrior. You have to know a little japanese if your mage simply for the reasons Sheila stated but also, you need to know what kind of spell you are buying. If you dont know the Kanji for the spell you are looking for you are going to have a hard time.
Its not that hard to memorize where all my WS's are, expecially at level 12  . I was PT'ed with a japanese party and i did just fine. But luckally the other warrior spoke a little english to tell me that she was going to use WS 1 and i should use WS 2 or visa versa. But other than that, if you dont know japanese just keep your mouth shut and pay extra attention to the battle and what you should be doing(considering you cant follow what the other players are saying)
