Wow, some of the things in here, make be blush for all new people to FFXI. I've been rather quite, too interested in running around and hitting things with my hammer.

However, that poor lvl 30 warrior with the lvl 20 axe, I don't know why it's funny because well, I'd probably be in the same boat. :D

Well, that level 20 axe is kind of awesome from 20-30. But at 31 he should upgrade it.

I think Dak was pointing out that he has a level 20 axe that is very expensive, meanwhile the rest of his gear was crap.

besides at somepoint in a characters life, doesn't it make sense that for part of it your sub could be underleveld?

Thief to 18, subjob quest, flop to warrior. war/thf to 30/15, unlock nin... nin/war to 37/18, switch to thf/nin 75/37..

Exactly. There is no point when it makes sense to have an underleveled sub for exp parties.

Only a handful of jobs to go. And some of them I won't bother to level through the dunes (RNG, BST), or at all (PUP).

I only had the one nerve left by the time I joined this party. When he dinged 20 (after our first fight) he switched to level 11 swords.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with carrying multple weapons to get them skilled up. As long as its ok with the party. And as soon as its capped, switch back to best WPN. As for nin Sub... what lvl was he again? If hes like 12-18 than he should be subbing mnk. Because it'll be awhile before 20. 19 I can understand.. though honestly.. if it was me, I'd go war/mnk until 24 when I got shadows, than dual-wield axes.. everyone has their preferences.

1. You're right, there's nothing wrong with keeping other weapons leveled. After your A weapons are up to date.

2.) /NIN at that point in the game is worthless. No, Dual Weild 1 (with swords ten levels below yours) at that point isn't a reason to sub it. Sub MNK, or prepared to be Gimpy McGimperstein. Save your NIN sub for post Utsusemi if dual tanking, or even better, for the post 30 levels.
