If we don't like something, collectively, if our hatred for it throbs like an abscess beneath every thread, does that mean that they're doing something right?

As hard as it may be, don't take this game or your characters too seriously. I promise you - the guys that really own your account don't.
The comments section of my latest post has become a flame war between:
a) my fans
b) people "revealing" me as a fake
c) people backing up A
d) people backing up B
e) people pretending to hate me and then posting that they love me.

Man, what a heated discussion in the comments section of that blog. I wish I wish I had that many hits to my page, lol. Tao, want to do some cross-blogging?

The debate about whether you're a real GM and therefore worthy of reading and fandom or a fake GM and therefore somehow not worthy reminds me of two things:
1) Catholics screaming about The DaVinci Code as heresy, never mind that it's a book that's filed in the fiction section to begin with.
2) People who make a big deal about professional wrestling being not real... to people intelligent enough to already know that but who actually like over-the-top macho melodrama.

Lol, took me about 2 years to prove to a friend that wrestling was a preplaned fight. The only real thing about it is that they have trained to take falls really well. Took me 5 years after that to convince him boxing was real, he had a hard time conceiving that someone could remain concious after a few brushes to the head. Completly ignoring the facts that Tyson would bite a person's EAR OFF as further validity of the fight being real, seriously ever seen someone in wrestling actually get their ear biten off?
I rest my case on that, but now I wonder... Why the heck did me and my friend pick a topic like wrestling vs. boxing and which was real? Also, how the heck did it turn into a 7 year thing?
Ok, brief OT time done. Sorry I was just laughing when I saw that spot.

The fact that he is trying so feverishly to prove otherwise. . . I'd like to break his heart and link him to this thread, but it is very comical. It's obvious that he has no real friends and is in need of a hobby.
Of course, there are the people that actually believe you. I think it's good to have an icon. Maybe the strength of [GM]Dave is not in his "believability," but in that he is a symbol that represents what us players are thinking and feeling like doing to those that make the gaming experience that much harder.
