It costs gil to farm with rng....

Anyways, since you're smithing another thing that you can do which nobody has mentioned is mining. Now I know that most mines on your server are probably dominated by gil sellers, but usually Movalpolos and Ifrit's are gil seller free. You might be able to mine agro free in Oldton with your DRK. If not, level your WHM up to 20, and your NIN up to 10 and go 20WHM/10NIN. That way, you have Sneak as WHM and you have Tonko:Ichi for NIN. Bombs don't agro ninjitsu(and there are bombs in both Movalpolos and Ifrits). Doing this you can make tons of profit. My favorite place to go is Ifrit's(adamans go for 90k on my server, Orichalcum 160k). The only thing is you will have to be patient because the rate for adaman/orichalcum drop is not common. Spend about 4-5 hours in the mines and you will probably pull up at least one, but I have gotten lucky and gotten 3-4 in that time. If you die and delevel its not hard to level your WHM back up because its always in demand in Qufim. Hope this helps.

Get used to it, lol. I have a close friend who is 86+2 Smithing, and he still mines Ifrit's for gil. You'd be surprised at how much you can actually synth out of the mines there, which is why I mentioned it. It just goes hand in hand. For example, there's Iron Sand and Bomb ash here, synth that into Steel Ingots or HQ it for Tama Hagane. You also get Iron and Darksteel of course so you can make your darksteel ingots.

Hell, I'd say Ifrit's is alone one of the BEST ways of farming gil in this game, if you're patient. I'm a 66 THF and I still mine Ifrit's for gil, and it's better gil than I can make anywhere else to be quite honest.

Farming with RNG can be a lot of fun though. Iron Arrows with the fast shooting bows is excellent for farming .

It's also quite fun when you get cyclone to use, RNG/THF I love farming with.

LoL Antican Pauldrons sell so fast.... you're lucky if you ever see 3 on the AH at a time... even getting the goblin armor (gives darksteel but at a higher HQ level) is a challenge.

I'm sorry, but am I the only one puzzled here? Why on earth did you even bring smithing to 80 if you (a) have no clue how to make money at it (b) have no clue what synths in the craft are potentially profitable and (c) are so deep in debt that you can't dig your way out with a backhoe. Any sane person would have slowed down their crafting long since, but apparently that isn't applicable in your case.

You sound like you want a magic bullet answer to making money, and it just doesn't exist. Any major imbalances in the market are usually corrected for very quickly by high level (100+) crafters, so even if we told you something worthwhile, it might not be true in 6 hours when the other smiths realize there's a profitable synth somewhere.

As suggested above, do your research, and find the recipes that are profitable. They're out there, you just have to be alert and look for them. As a smith, you have excellent opportunities to make money in Ifrit's Cauldron. Even if you don't synth the adaman into ingots for skill, you can still SELL those while synthing the rest. It's not like they're so common that you're going to have to throw out everything else just to keep them.

yea I found it very odd as well... 60Drk, you should have full AF even if you sold everything else. And seriously any sane person would have kept at least their weapon for farming. It sounds like you didn't even understand the mechanics of the game at all and your case is very suspecious. Have you EVER farm? You know you can farm naked with your AF1 right? So many low level things that drops valuable stuff like crawlers and all. If you don't even know about those how could you possibly support yourself to level up let alone crafting?

I did many crafting. Some are still 20 and a few at 60 and already I can see what I can synth to make money in EVERY crafts. If you just buy everything from AH and never learn the economy, it's all yourself to blame man. How can one be a craftsman and not even know what the market is like?

There's no *one* shot craft that will just give you millions for free mind you. Even if they do, they are expensive to compensate the material costs which of course the HNM people are the ones hunting for them so they basicly can make items out of their drop and sell for pure profit without material cost.

And you know, your excuse about good friend giving you gil... is exactly what Danield on my server said. Which, in fact, he had his bro bought gil for him.

Farm with ranger costs gil? buwahaha you know what you can go to windurst port, buy a few stacks of level 1 wooden arrows for like 300 per 99 and go 1 shot the bees/crawlers around saruta/giddeus. There you go you spend maybe 20 arrows shooting bees for 12 beehive chips which are like 8-10k...
