  • How do I make gil? >.<

I have a question... Ive recently made level 80 Blacksmithing and I have the smithy's mitts. I have 60 cloth, 36 Alchemy, 50 goldsmithing, 35 woodworking, and 15 leathercraft. The problem is I cant find anything to make GOOD gil at my level, the only thing I can think of is HQing Haubergeon but im too low for that (even though I did it once on a lucky synth... (0/2 on NQ Hauby... failed first HQed second heh). Any tips or actual synths would be great... and I mean a lot of gil too...not just a few 100k.

This is going to come off as offensive, because it is. You're an idiot; do some research. How did you get to 80 Smithing and not know how to research? You fail at life and crafting, have a good day. No one can tell you for your server, and if someone could, they'd be a dumbass for giving away such a great synth. Now go find a database site with a good guild recipe list and have at it.

wow wasnt that a little too much?

what motivates you to insult people like that..?

but honestly you should check for a recipe guide, mystery tour is the best place for that, see what you can craft and check how much it costs you to craft it and how much you can sell it at

I did that... I used FFXI.somepage.coms recipe list and the only stuff I can find worth smithing would be HQing Eisen gear which I cant do cause of my low leather (might be able to do the gold subs though), or darksteel ingots but those dont HQ and dont make much gil anyway.

I think what he's saying is that, it took a shitload of gil to get to 80 smithing... so basically continue doing what you did to get that gil lol. Please don't say you bought it, because if you did then you DO fail at life.

Sadly, most of my gil came from my friend -.- Im in debt like 10 mil with about 5 mil of my own spent (most of which came from my lucky haubergeon +1 synth ; ; )

I dunno how profitable this is on your server, but why not take an antican pauldron (1.5k?), and desynth with a lightning crystal (200 gil?) and make a darksteel ignot (25-30k?) do this several times, and that seems to me to be very decent profit, no? You dont always have to rely on HQ'ing high priced items. Why not make lots and lots of really good profit on consumable items?

I figure level 80 smithing should be able to desynth all kinds of shit, and make tons of money from it. Gob helms, armor, etc, etc. Check mysterytour for the desynth recipes. Sure you will fail some, but you will make a lot of gil too.

My alchemy is only 26, and I desynthed a Moblin mask into 8 loops of glass fibre (@ 12k/stack) so I turned 1k into 8k in 5 seconds, and I'm low level.

What Gman said is a good idea. But also do realize that none of the crafting guides are complete, for the most part they only display what players spent hours getting sitting at that guild and talking to people repeatidly to find. It is also very likely that many crafts requiring multiple crafts have not been found because many guilds won't suggest them unless each required craft is within levels to succeed.

Also every single crafting guide you can find very rarely show a good list of desynths requiring certain craft levels as well. Those lists are so incomplete because some of the desynthable stuff no one would dare try unless they like loosing tons of money, for example desynthing Kirin's Osode, or Leaping Boots. Those can be desynthed the one accidental desynth of Kirin's Osode was actually posted on a thread on this board, if I remember right the person got back a bronze ingot (Horrible desynth but proves the point that the guides are not complete because you won't find that listed in any).

the smart thing to do, would be to get a print out of what you can synth, an desynth, then head to the A.H in jeuno an go through alot of different things. see what is selling for a good profit, an how well its selling then base your craft on it. cause really your the only one who knows your servers A.H, an what selling well.

the problem i find is your looking for knock out blows, instead of steady punchs. there is nothing wrong with 100k up for sale on the A.H, an if you play the thinking game. youd be surprised how fast that adds up. example::: i had hqed alot of silent oils. 14 stacks worth to be exact. 7 on my mule in jeuno, an 7 on my main char. at the time they were 14k = 196k. the interesting thing was it only took me 1 hr to farm the materials. the other interesting thing. 13 had sold before my mule put up the 14 one.

my advice pay more attention to your 60 cloth. alot of those things desynth into raw materials that sell very well. also within that craft are 2 popular ninja powders KAGINAWA, an SHINOBI-TABI. second dont be afraid to farm what you need, desynth what you need, an craft what you need to make things. most times then not you will save alot just by doing this. third thing is try selling crafted goods early in the morning or before bed. that way your not running to the a.h every 3 mins to check an see if things sold..

selling for 200k a day on 2 different mules at the end of the week will fetch you 1.4mil a mule. or 2.8mil, like i said. dont be greedy. an those 100-200k honestly do add up.

I think to make the most money off desynths, the best strategy is to just take cheap items and desynth them into expensive crafting items. I saw a guy in upper jeuno desynth 4 darksteel ignots in a row from antican pauldrons. Then he failed one, but still made almost 100k in the process. It's nice to know that you can make easy money to help reimburse you for the time and effort it took to get to high level smithing.

Everytime I enter the store in San d'oria that you trade the tiger fangs, I always see someone desynthing stuff that you can buy at that store. I guess the various items that you can buy for 500 gil or less, turn into nice materials like cotton cloth, linen, etc. The whole desynthing thing is basically a fairly untapped source of unlimited gil. you would be crazy not to take advantage of it.

Thanks for the advice... and this is exactly why I made up a new char name and such so people wouldnt know my real char and know my noobishness muwahahaha >.> Although Sidanoir probably can tell rather easily who I am since I stalk him for craft advice (100 smith 60 everything else heh).
