Title says it... This fight is so fucking disgusting it invoked nightmares about various strange things. Back to the point... I'm told the strategy to do this is to gravity marathon, which I personally don't see the practicality in. First off, she's not "hard" in the usual sense... her normal attacks are weak, her defense isn't that high (contrary to the popular belief, 75's can knock her HP down quite easily), etc... There is one and only one thing that makes this fight hard, and that's The Spirits Within.
I'm sorry, but anything that does a 3240 non-physical reduceable, non-blinkable, non-elemental, 100% hit death move is just fucking gay. Also, apparently her spirits is, unlike that of PCs, not dependent on her HP, as it still did over 3000 to us with only 1/5 of her HP remaining. I'm led to believe that this fight is purely based on luck, and that if she uses spirits on you, you lose, and if not, you win.
First of all, I see marathoning for things like king behemoth who hit too hard on a regular basis for you to tank, or with those monster WS's that require charging times that you can run away from and cancel out.... which does NOT work with WS's that trigger the second you're within striking range. When gravity wear's off, there's got to be a split second before it's recast, and in terms of monsters in pursuit in a BC, that's usually enough time for them to close in the distance and perform one action. Considering it has auto-meditate TP and probably has 300% TP saved up by then, there's no doubt that she's gonna try to fire off that death wave the second gravity wears off... Thereby killing off your tank and sending your boss fight on the path to hell. Given you're lucky, she won't spirits you again until after your tank recovers from weakness. Given you're not, you all DC from the BC, reraise, and try again.
It's arguable that she WS's less often because she won't be able to come in contact that much. However, marathoning makes the fight a lot longer, thereby giving her much more time to use more WS's... so I'd say in the end it evens out.
Gravity or not, it seems to me that luck is the determining factor in this fight... Given you can marathon and kill her extremely quickly with a setup of PLD RDM BLM BLM RNG BRD... how gay is that? What's the fucking point if you can only do this with certain jobs?
All ranting aside, has anyone ever done it without gravity marathon before? The group I went with doesn't have a RDM, and being all at the same "incomplete stage" of this mission, I'd like to do it again with the same group (PLD DRK SAM BLM WHM BRD) so that no one is left out... I suppose I could always just do that marathon shit with a different setup, but personally I feel that running behind something like a fag and banging it in the ass is the gayest thing in the world.
