    A Critique of IchibanCrush's "Macros"

Posting on this thread, IchibanCrush was asking for critique. In no way, shape or form, did he ask responses to explain. By stating a simple opinion, a person can give a concise statement supposed to “dicking around with a paragraph to end with a simple “yes or “no. IchibanCrush asked to be judged and never asked for reasoning. After the moderator Tomoh posted, IchibanCrush responds by saying “Thanks for putting a reasoning behind the judgement(sp) (blind "no"s(sp) tend to just scream "whiner" or "troll", depending on the case). This implies that he wants a reasoning to why his “macros are irritating.

Before hand, the writer’s response about “whiner and “troll is wrong. A “whiner would be that of a person who complains. The “troll is a person who patrols an area in search of a person or thing. Just saying “no in response to a question does not mean a person is: A. “whining or B. “trolling

IchibanCrush starts his list of “macros by numerical order. His first “macro:
    1. /p You spoony(sp) <t>!! [Provoke](too bad I'll never have to provoke a BRD...)
tries to be clever in terms of use, yet the pun is very brainless. He most likely got the idea from the user Celeras. In which it was in his signature for a extended period of time.

    His second “macro:
    2. /p Rock on, <t>! [Stone]
    /point motion
(note that motions are animated while the spell is being casted(sp))
the originality is lost its humor. This has been done to death by many other users in the Final Fantasy Online world.

    IchibanCrush’s third “macro:
    3. /p +Oh lord, please blessth thine sinner <t>+ [CureI]
tries to play on Christianity, yet is not well put together and is not original in concept.

On his fourth “macro Ichiban states:
    4. /p A toast <t>! Here's to the atom bomb! [Water]
    /welcome motion
(I find that the welcome motion looks a bit classy on a hume, though a taru's hump would be funnier)
this plays on the atom bomb “incident of World War II. World War II was a grievous time in which two hundred thousand people lost their lives to the atomic bomb. Many people will find it offensive to honor the atomic bomb with a toast. Adding the “/welcome motion is making IchibanCrush seem as a bigot.

    His fifth “macro:
    5. /p +Behold, <t>, the power of JEBUS!+ [CureII]
Jebus most likely refers to Jesus. The user might have not known that it really means:
trodden hard, or fastness, or "the waterless hill", the name of the Canaanitish
    city which stood on Mount Zion(Josh. 15:8; 18:16, 28).
which is identified with Jerusalem. This “macro is not humorous, as it is simple and dull.

    The sixth “macro consisting of:
    6. /p +Gather around, sinful children!+ [Protectra] in 5 seconds
he tries again to play on the Christian theme. The spell “protectra has no affiliation with sin.

    The seventh macro:
    7. /p May I have this spindizzy(sp) dance, <t>? [Aero]
    /bow motion
is a play on the phrase “May I have this dance? The use of emotion was correct on his part of relevancy, but actual “spell has no affiliation to dancing. It may have a somewhat spiral looking effect, yet by adding the “spindizzy doesn’t constitute to relevancy.

    IchibanCrush’s eighth “macro:
    8. /p Boku wa PUNCH DRUNKARD!! [Combo]
may have some affiliation to a Japanese rock band, but is lost to many North American players who are not familiar with the group. Thus it looses its effect and leaves the readers lost.

On IchibanCrush’s second to final “macro he states:
    9. /p Sleep now in the fire! [Burning Blade]
refers to a line in a rock song. The pun is horrible.

    On his final “macro:
    10. /p ~666 Oh dark lord, please plague this <t>... 666~ [Bio]
his religious theme is rather dull. It is hard to continue further to critique this.

This Essay was to show the cumbersome of his “macro’s. By leaving all this out, IchibanCrush would not get on people’s nerves by filling the “chat log. As previously stated, “this would piss me off soooooooo(sp) bad. Would have been easier then writing this full essay. Without asking a person to explain on an issue, a “yes or “no response would be the best and quickest response.

          "Save me Jebus!"
either way it is dull

Yes, it was indeed a Simpsons reference.

Personally Albert, I think you're a crybaby that's just looking to nitpick at something (for one, I don't know who the hell Celeras is, this is a reference to the american release of FF4/2us), along with anyone else complaining. Here's a shampoo recommendation.

I can't stand people that are full of themselves.

That's actually something I never considered, but I think most of my spells ('voke I know is definitely) only consists of one line, therefor taking up just as much room as:

                              /p [Whatever Skill/Spell] --> <t>
Which means it still takes up more lines than most of my macros.

I will confess to having a few "cute" macros...

                              /p "Come and get me, <t>! (|Provoke| >> <t>)
                              /ja "Provoke" <t>
                              /wait, etc....
                              /echo PROVOKE READY!!!!!!!!!

(note that I used an echo to tell me provoke is ready. Aside from the fact that I almost never see this because my cure macros prevent this from executing to completion, I feel no need to advertise my provoke status to the party.)

                              --

                              /p Oh, no you don't! (using |Shield Bash|)
                              /ja "Shield Bash" <t>

This one is probably going away soon. No need to advertise it, and I use Shield Bash more as a hate gaining tool than an interruptor now anyway.

                              --

                              /p I won't be beaten! (using |Invincible|)
                              /ja "Invincible" <me>

I want my party to know when I've used Invincible, so I see no reason not to be cute about it. Thus the Bubblegum Crisis quote.
                              --

My WS macros all look like this:

                              /p Using |Weapon Skill| |(weapon skill name)| on <t>!
                              /ws "(weapon skill name)" <t>

                              Simply informative.

                              --

                              /ja "Cover" <stpc>
                              /p Using |Cover|! Get behind me, <lastst>!

Again, purely informative. Tells the party I am using Cover as well as who I am using it on, and instructs that person to get behind me.

                              --

I do of course have a report macro...

                              /p |Paladin| HP <hp> MP <mp> TP <tp>

                              --

All my other macros are silent. I don't feel any need to tell the party when I am using Sentinel (obvious from the graphic effect anyway) or casting spells. This also goes when I am playing as a mage, all my spell macros are silent. As a tank, I can say for certain that I prefer that the mages use silent spell macros as well, because it doesn't spam my chat log so much... but it doesn't bother me so much for me to make a big deal out of it. With the exception of the Shield Bash macro, the only macros of mine that "talk" are ones which I feel give essential information to the party... and this is the way I think it should be. If someone wants to put something clever (or even not clever) in a macro, as long as they're not adding spam by adding lines, I really don't mind.

I'm curious, though, how many people would object even to what I have above. Not that I plan to change it anyway, and no party I've ever been in has objected... but I am curious.
