  • The New Patch

Feelings about the new patch? Feel there should be any additions, deletions? Have any questions or crys of outrage? Post it here.

All pretty much looks good to me, lets see how much I can get done before getting pwned at the end of the month:mad:.

Only thing I disagree with is the addition of the 'Subtle Blow' ability added to Ninjas. I think it sucks basically.. give them a REAL ability already.
I plan to live forever.. so far so good.

An issue concerning the accumulation of TP with weapon skills that consist of multiple strikes (i.e. Combo, Penta Thrust, etc.) has been corrected.
TP will be accumulated as usual for that weapon type on the first strike (first two strikes for hand-to-hand attacks or when wielding two weapons), with each subsequent strike accumulating 1 TP.
Accordingly, enemies who are the targets of multiple-strike weapon skills will only gain TP from the first strike (first two strikes for hand-to-hand attacks or when wielding two weapons).
Also, all elemental weapon skills, except for Starlight and Moonlight (which affect only the wielder or party members), will now accumulate TP when used.
Uhm, do I get this right ?
For HNMs....they only gain TP once (twice) for Multi Hit WS ? ((((゜д゜)))

I think MNKs and DRKs just got a few ranks up in the HNM fight wanted list.

only part I didn't like was the TP nerf. I have a good friend that doesn't play on my server. He has like a 58drg. He loved that job cause he could just penta like crazy. He said he's gonna go quit at 60 now and probably start something like a brd :dead: I mean...I think that's the only thing drgs had going for them. It's like taking blink away from a ninja or making the recast time 2x longer.

          Yeah basically MNK and especially DRG just took this patch right up the ass. A DRG friend of mine first expressed how stupid the "Spirit Link" is beacause to recover the drg's hp, it's like a 5 to 1 ratio of hp you lose, to how much the dragon recovers. For example, he loses about 300 HP and his dragon recovers about 60 hp. Secondly... Penta Thrust just because completely useless. In fact, the whole pro behind multi hit weaponskills has just been dismissed. As a SAM I went out into Rolanberry to confirm this... and my old penta returned 63 on all 5 hits. This time... a whopping 17 ; ;

DRG got screwed and MNK kinda got screwed too. The new tp thing against monsters however kinda helps for melees against HNM. At least a melee can go /NIN now and dual wield swords for spirits and not give the HNM too much tp cause NIN sub will have Subtle Blow.

I'm looking forward to some of the new recipes that are going to be discovered (more JSE anyone?). Chiyo, the highest blacksmith on our server has already started making the Adaman set. This is not the cursed Adaman set, but the regular set (think IM armor, but purple and gold). This is the armor that SageSundi showed off almost 6 months ago at the End of Beta event.

Finally... it's become overwhelming in Jeuno the amount of /sh I see with (|Subtle Blow|) (|Job|) somewhere in the /sh...

            Meh, Monk is still ok.
            RF only gave about 15% extra before (5/5 hits 4/20 = 25-30, 5/5 hits 4/21 = 13-15).
Three hits worth...at the most, 2 turns.
            Big Deal.

            Asuran however....
Well, I never got to 70, so I guess it doesn't hit me as hard. :[

I'm noticing the effect of subtle already.
It's nice getting a new ability,
so you can't really shit on it.

On HNMs, at least we'll be able to get close and not do that Boost then Chi Blast BS. ¬¬
Dragon Kick and Asuran Fists should be slightly more useable now...well...maybe not AsF.

..Speaking of WSs....I went to Mysterytour...I saw them.....
I saw the Belt, I saw the weapons....and the effects..........
If you have any love for your common man or yourself,
you WILL get these weapons and show us the power they hold.
            Rude, but not wrong. ;x

              Subtle Blow... blows. :-)

I liked being able to get/hold aggro as a Monk (not too hard when you're with a warrior of same level - you're building more hate than the Warrior's Provokes will give him at a time, even though you're taking hits all the time).

Oh well, gives me a reason to switch over to using a staff.

BTW, it looks like the multi-hit WS change doesn't affect Combo - I'm still getting my 17% TP from Combo when I hit all three times. Maybe it's only after the first three hits that you get hit with a low TP return for subsequent hits (so Raging Fists and Penta Thrust, when they hit all five times, should be landing in the low 20% range, not the mid-teens), or maybe it's only for WSes that use more than three hits...

Subtle Blow hasn't changed Monk hate,
we just give the mob less TP.

Edit: You're not gunna like the hate you get after a while.

I saw some RSE hands at the AH, they were lv62. Dex+4 for Elvaan I think it was... that would be sweet. I checked around and there was no body, feet, or legs, just hands. Wonder how you get them...

...They've done something with the internal hate calculation that they didn't mention, I think. It's gotten somewhat harder for a Monk to hold the enemy - and I suspect this is a *side effect* of Subtle Blow.

This is why I said what I did - I know it's not anywhere in the update's info, it just seems like they've got at least one weird side effect to it already. :-/

There are also "God" weapons for each job. Each god weapon has its own WS you can use when you use it(i think).. What Reihn told me hehe

                            You ever think you're PTing with a GOOD tank? ~_~;

You're a monk for god's sake, you aren't supposed to hold hate.
In fact at YOUR point, it's not very possible unless your tank sucks.

Nah, it wasn't too hard to do earlier - take me and a warrior of the same level as the ONLY ones involved in the fight, going against dhalmels. I'm opening up the fights, and we're just trying to figure out when the warrior should use Provoke to even up the damage between the two of us.

It wasn't ever possible to do that. Either I'd get enough hate overall before the 'voke (if it happened after the dhalmel hit about 60% of its HP) that using Provoke wouldn't pull it off me successfully, or the Warrior would take more damage if he used Provoke before it hit 60% of its HP, since the dhalmel would connect more often when it hit him (I'd get it back at around 15-20% finally, but by that time, the Warrior's taken about 30% more damage than I have).

And I can think of good reasons why I *should* be holding hate for now - I'm still just short of the point where Monks switch over from being able (and useful) to take the beating so that I serve almost as an extra tank to being intended more for just damage.

Doesn't matter too much to me right now, though - I'm leveling up rdm instead for now. I've neglected that for way too long.
