Re: E3 2013 Schedule
Loving the detail Mega Man actually has in this game. Sakurai really does enjoy preserving every detail of a character before he throws them in Smash Bros. Mega Man looks like he does from the art concepts, he moves exactly like he would in the 8-Bit games. Even the run and jump mirrors his 8-bit incarnation perfectly.Last edited by Omgwtfbbqkitten; 06-12-2013, 04:17 PM.

It's like Armando said, you can't just go to the city and buy a bag of quality internets to bring home. You can't buy something that isn't being sold.Originally posted by DakAttack View PostPerhaps it's old-fashioned greed that forces people to buy more expensive data plans?

Re: E3 2013 Schedule
What Cid said. If Netflix started requiring 5Mbps it would change nothing due to pure old fashioned greed.

Re: E3 2013 Schedule
How many carriers would actually bother to extend their lines to reach people? It's all well and good to push for the change, but if Verizon or whoever the local ISP tribal lord is doesn't feel like investing in the infrastructure to reach to those people down the road then those people down the road are fucked because all they've got left to turn to is satellite internet and that is a goddamn nightmare of a thing.
I'd love to have a plethora of options when it comes to ISPs, but I don't realistically see that happening in the near future.

Re: E3 2013 Schedule
Well the forum just ate my post, so I'm going to summarize.Originally posted by Etra View PostI think you're reading Dak's argument wrong. He's saying 1.5mbps should be a "requirement" like electricity is a "requirement." It should be accessible to everyone in the country, not just those in cities and suburbs. He's not saying it should be a requirement to play consoles, but it's needed to function in modern society.
If that's not what he's saying, then piss off, Dak.
Imagine if Netflix decided the minimum bandwidth requirement for using their service is 5Mbps. Things would change and 5Mbps would quickly become the standard. Change has to start somewhere and Microsoft knows that.

It's like it's 2006 and Microsoft and Sony have switched places.Originally posted by Omgwtfbbqkitten View PostIt really does kind of amaze me that that this year, at this E3, all that was needed to be seen as favorable was not change like MS changed.

Microsoft: Can't get online? Buy an Xbox 360! - Destructoid
Being serious the majority of gamers don't really care about the Social Media functions of the PS4 or the tablet controls on the Wii U. All they care about is playing fun games. it would be great to see a console get back to just playing games. Don't get me wrong, I like being able to watch stuff on Netflix on my PS3... Eeexcept I can also do that on my PC, laptop or phone...
Honestly it would be interesting to see how the XBox One will recover from this. Even the stereotypical "dudebro" guys and "fratboy" guys I know are furious at the XBox One and are refusing to go for it. The thing is, is that this PR is leaking through to the "casual gamers" that might not be following E3 but might have bought an XBox One. Anti-Consumerism is Anti-Consumerism and even the least consumer savvy people can see that with what Microsoft are doing.
But getting back to the original point, Microsoft are showing the same arrogance as Sony did back in 2006 and somehow managed to go beyond even that. Twitter trends during the Gamespot Allegiance thing showed that Microsoft are in genuine danger of losing North America and the UK, their two largest and most successful markets, to Sony and Nintendo and I'm honestly not sure if they realise this. Like Sony in 2006, it is like they are starting to believe their own bullshit and that is when you start going downhill.
I'm not declaring anyone as a winner here but it isn't hard to see why people are claiming that Sony "Won E3" and Sony/Nintendo have "Won this generation" before it has even started.

Re: E3 2013 Schedule
Which is why he's saying it needs to be fixed. I guarantee you if the entire US had internet at 1.5mbps, we'd be a much smarter nation. With better amateur porn.Originally posted by Armando View PostI get what Dak's trying to say, but there's big problems with his analogies. I don't think Moore's Law holds for ISPs (just like it doesn't hold for batteries), and more importantly the customer isn't in control over his ISP options. You can't just go to the store and bring some high quality Internets back to the boonies, even if you wanted to.

Re: E3 2013 Schedule
Google Fiber *should* be the norm for 1st world countries, end of story.
Quite frankly it's utter bullshit that we have to settle for less - the other ISPs are all just milking the cow for as long as possible at this point. And on that note, I say again - FUCK THE CRTC!!!
