You are really simplifying it's nature! There is a lot more RPG to it than those visual novels, and you are underrating its voice acting! ><; Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 brings back the greatness of adventure and the warm feeling of friendship, all bundled up with great equipment and combat features!

It's battle system is even deeper and more complex than any Zelda or Kingdom Hearts! And definitely better battle system than FFXIII and XIII-2!

Ya, the first one was starting out and stuff, but Mk2 is a lot better in every way and rivals the best RPGs out there, mew!!

No; I'm implicitly overrating it because the English and Spanish languages lack the vocabulary to express how bad that voice acting is.

Also, lolComplexity. That doesn't make a game better; often it makes it worse.

Sorry, I'm just too busy being excited about this sequel to care

Devil Survivor 2, sequel to one of 2009's best RPGs, comes to Nintendo DS in 2012!

Posting in epic thread so I can find it later with ease. Carry on.

P.S. Hyperdimension Neptunia was terrible, and the sequel looks slightly less than terrible. If NIS wants to dig themselves out of the hate pile with me, they're going to have to do a lot better than this tripe.

After getting home and actually watching the video in the OP I am rescinding my previous statement and replacing it with the following one.

I am fucking insulted that you think this garbage rivals anything that could be called "the best RPGs out there".

Judging it based soley on the trailer? Oh mew, and I thought everyone here was clever enough to do more research about it? What, mew. Someone has to lay all the information on your lap to help you get a clue how much better it really is, mew? sigh... okay I will gather and design some kind of easy to explain way the good points about this rpg gameplay! You probably still won't be convinced but at least I will back my subject with valid reasons, mew! And you can also wait for my full review of the story after release!

The idea of a trailer is to garner interest and showcase the game. What the is the point of releasing a fucking trailer if you have to dig deeper to find out whether you want to play it or not? J9 logic is absolutely full of fail. Overall I think it looks terrible. I'm not a fan of the style, the voice acting, or anything that you've talked about in this thread.

The real fault in Neptunia is the low budget approach they took to making the game.

Instead of going with High-res engine cutscenes like those seen in games like Valkyria they went with a Visual Novel approach that completely negated any benefit of releasing the game for the PS3, except for the relatively heavy voice content. If storage was even an issue that is.

Other than that, as in most of these games and anime, the main attraction is having known seiyuu work together in an ALL-STAR kinda way*. So obviously, if the seiyuus are replaced by a generic dubber the game loses most of it's appeal. Leaving only the story -which was not written as anything more than a vehicle for fan service- as awkwardly looking as the unexplainable low-res models used for the characters in dialog scenes.

                      * Think Queen's Blade or Claymore and pretty much any of the games/anime with a huge cast you see from time to time. Queen's blade was completely dismissed to the ecchi side (this side of the globe) because rarely anyone noticed seiyuu like Hirano Aya or Kugimiya Rie were even there. Edit > I people even watched it with Japanese voices that is.

Jump to 2:35 if you wish. While Ryu ga Gotoku (Yakuza) was already an awesome game alone when you put these actors in it it goes well beyond it's original awesomeness... if you actually happen to know who they are.

Queen's Blade is about boobs, butts and sometimes fighting. A Japanese dub does not change this. You have an elves that don't believe in underwear, one of which uses her pet snake as a bikini bottom. Pretty much any of the gaming side - whatever appeal the combat books held in Japan - is lost in the anime and voices do nothing to change that no matter where they're from. What makes Queen's Blade entertaining is that its so bad at its premise you want to see how much lower the show will sink and meander to get to the point of its plot.

Lena is vapid and uninteresting. Risty could be a badass if she didn't get her ass kicked so much. Echidna. Shizuka and Menace are distractions and everyone is so expository they're just pointless. I think the only men even given screen time are Lena's father - who doesn't even get a compelte face - and that rival ninja from Shizuka's old clan.

Its like Street Fighter the Movie. Its something that endears simply because its terrible fan fiction. Its probably also why the Resident Evil movies do so well. Resident Evil without its text-based lore is just stupid shit and zombies happen.

Neptunia is more like Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li - its just bad.

That's precisely why I said Queen's Blade was received like that this side of the globe. Proof of that is you can't even compute seeing or hearing anything past the boobs.

There is a shapeshifing bunny girl named Melona that shoots acidic milk from her breasts.

                            Your argument is invalid.

We're clever enough to see through your mew hype bullshit and clever enough to know that this shit can't possible rival the best RPGs out there. This game won't hold a candle to any game Black Isle put out and I am offended that you think we're so stupid that we'd believe otherwise.

That is very wrong, mew. The PS3 capabilities does not dictate the artistic presentation of a story and its cutscenes. People that only consider more advanced cutscenes as are just graphics fanatics dependant on state of the art eye candy.
But that isn't what gaming is really about, mew.

That is one of the bad things about mainstream in industry, they only care about the best graphics and cinematic presentation to determine what is quality rpg. That's why garbage like FFXIII-2 sells despite the poor writing and bad design choices because they have the most advanced eye candy to distract people from its story, character and gameplay flaws. Big budget rpgs like FFXIII and XIII-2 have even more shallow gameplay, story full of holes and unfun character interaction, and less significant characters than a lot of rpgs out there. Not to mention the most depressing finale in a Final Fantasy sequel.
