    Need I remind you?
Come on Mal, that shit's not happening any time soon for a lot of practical reasons.

And even if it did, the lag from upconverting 1080p to 8000p or whatever would be nuts. Like we don't have enough lag problems and TVs aren't expensive enough right now.

LOL yeah I know but still that's a boss TV >_>

I'd say we're a good 2 years off from them being standard. I'm still waiting for Sony or someone to bring out the fucking 3D TVs that don't require the Glasses though. It's not like the tech isn't there (Hi2u 3DS) just not on a large enough scale yet.

The PEZ dispenser alone could sell just about any product it was tacked onto.

Reading what I missed, now I don't feel like watching what I missed. :< Wii-U looks like shed.

Now a PEZ dispenser, I could get behind this.

It's pretty much what I was expecting. Hardware specs are not all confirmed but it will support 1080p and has a custom quad-core Intel chip. I'm pretty excited to be able to play the system from my bed in another room.

I live about a hundred miles from Epcot Center, and have been there at least half a dozen times to my personal recollection. What's that got to do with E3?

Sooooo... Nintendo is releasing something that still isn't as powerful as the 360 or PS3?

Fancy $500 controllers or not, pass. Even if it was as powerful as a PS3, pass (because, let's be honest, that shit was released five years ago. There's no reason to not have better hardware in the newest gen of consoles now.)

I think realistically, none of the conferences were really mindblowing. Nintendo and Sony did what they needed to do, but I guess you could say Sony rambled too long and Nintendo ran too short (though still no news on a US release of The Last Story?

Nintendo has successfully sent MS behind the Wii in terms of respect overall, though. When Sony and MS finally went left after Nintendo had, it turns out MS went way out into left field. Not to begrudge something like Dance Central 2. but the whole push on Kinect is too over to top.

360 has go from a system mostly just about shooters to shooters and casual gaming overload.

What Nintendo showed off for 3DS was damn impressive. Personally, I want to know how they can often pull off 60 FPS in 3D mode and everyone else struggles. The 3D video of Super Mario, Luigi's Mansion 2 and Kid Icarus Uprising were pretty nice, KIU especially. Luigi's Mansion 2 wasn't pushing 60 fps, but considering the pacing and spooky settings, I guess that really wouldn't be all that useful.

LM2 was a pleasant surprise, I never though Luigi would be allowed another solo outing. Its an appropriate game for the 3DS, though, as Nintendo used the original LM tech demo to experiment with 3D displays - they were just too expensive at the time to be practical.

This month is where 3DS starts to really flex its muscle, so let's hope Nintendo can keep some better momentum after OOT3D gets out.

As for Wii-U. I think it has tons of potential and a lot of the ideas being thrown around. It seems a more reasonable answer to splitting the TV than Sony's 3DTV is, though I'm sure the controller will cost a pretty penny. Still for the hardcore gamer that has to share a TV with family or SOs, this could be a godsend. We've seen what dual screens and touch can bring to gaming with DS and it can bring those things into a home console experience in even broader way now.

I could be persuaded to hold on of some third party titles for PS3 or 360 or repeat them for Wii-U, I guess it just depends oh how far away you can take that controller. Gotta say with Darksiders' leanings being a bit Zelda-esque, I'd want it on a Nintendo console. That HD remake of Okami people have been frothing for would be amazing on Wii-U.

I liked the Tekken tech demo for Wii-U, especially the level editor. The Pac-Land level made me smile.

Sony succeeded in selling me on Vita, I just hopw those MGS/ZOE collections our out this holiday so I can get the most out of the system early on. Its as big benefit to me as the PSP/PSOne compatibility is.

Sony showed they learned a lot from their mistakes on PSP, though I'm still doubtful about that whole AT&T thing. If it comes at additional fee per month, then there's no reason for the $300 model. If it 3G functionality is free, I could be down for the 3G model (though really, I could just hold out for the inevitable 4G model).

I'm still catching up on PS3/Vita stuff, I had a busy day, so I just caught up on 3DS and the Wii U stuff.

That zelda tech demo was damn pretty. Even if it was just auto-piloted play, they did make some of the elements interactive.

curious how it transfers so fast to that controller. Can't be remote play, but then again, it could be a different kind of it without video.

                              I hear its NASA technology.

Sooooo... Nintendo is releasing something that still isn't as powerful as the 360 or PS3?
As powerful as PS3 if not moreso. Dunno where you're hearing that. Runs things in 1080p. Aside from that, seems like they were going for another paradigm shift.

As expected, whenever Nintendo has one of those a bunch of people call them crazy and it goes on to be massively successful (see: DS, Wii).

Its when people don't do that you should be slightly concerned. With 3DS, people were halfway on "they're crazy" but they were really excited about the graphics.

I think that sums it up right there.

Microsoft's presentation at least did its best to showcase games, but there was a lot of "well that's cool that Kinect can do that, but I don't need it" sort of vibe. Halo 4 announcement salvaged it, if you care about Halo - which I don't, particularly, but I'll allow that many people do. I don't really think they've managed to win over Nintendo's erstwhile "blue ocean" demographic, however hard they're trying - not yet, anyhow. I do give them credit for at least throwing some muscle behind supporting Kinect, though at this point there doesn't seem to be anything hugely "gotta have it" aside from Dance Central.

Sony's presentation was all over the place, and not necessarily in a good way. No surprises except the very reasonable price of the PS Vita - but of all the surprises we might have seen, that's a pretty big one. It's certainly the only time I saw a lot of genuine applause. PS Vita lineup looks pretty healthy for launch software, assuming most of those games make the launch window (which isn't necessarily a safe assumption). PS3 offerings were mostly in-line with expectations; Uncharted 3 looks awesome of course, but not much in the way of stuff we didn't already know for the rest of 2011 on PS3.

Nintendo's Wii U design cuts against the grain in a lot of ways, and I'm not quite sure where they're going with it. The controllers are going to be mondo expensive. That's not the sort of device you want in the hands of an exuberant kid. It looks fragile, it's HUGE, the button layout looks awkward as heck, and you really have to wonder what the battery life will be on it (or how it'll be powered... standard batteries again, Nintendo? I hope not, that screen will chew through them.)

The split-screen with private screen for multiple players on the Wii U controller is the only functionally useful thing about it, personally, and I suspect that is going to come at such a prohibitive cost that few will consider that a net plus.
