    Dynasty Warriors 10th anniversary celebration! in Europe!

    MEW! Why can't we have celebrations in North American too mew?

    The celebrations in Japan must be really amazing! Oh ya Dynasty Warriors series is very fun and always great with gameplay and music and art and lots of great history too woven with creative things and other added fun! You know Dynasty Warriors really is the only series that stays true to the beat em up and hack n slash formula that people enjoy over the years and DW series does improve and learn too without becoming something else. Dynasty Warriors really is one of the shining examples in the industry of fun and choices and cooperation too! Maybe one day Dynasty Warriors will get an official world holiday!

            Probably because Dynasty Warriors games sell extremely well in Europe while they tend to bomb in the US as far as profits go.

                    Oh, I just see the UK charts every other week or so. Let's just say that while I understand that Europe and the US don't get the all the same releases at the same but there's a great degree of disparity when it comes to the matter of taste.

                    FIFA I understand, that's not a problem. The FIFA games are quite good. But when titles like Lego Batman, Just Dance can hang on for months while numerous great games don't even seem to rate high with gamers over there, I have to wonder what's going on.

                    Example: Goldeneye 007 and Blood Stone are already off the chart. Blood Stone was slightly mediocre, but Goldeneye was quite good. Now, sure, Call of Duty was just a week after, but I guess I just don't see why Wii Party and Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 would be bigger releases than others. The Force Unleashed II isn't even good (then again, its Star Wars and people will buy anything Star Wars).

                    Its just I look at the charts sometimes and have to say "wow."

                    UK Charts: Black Ops on top ... as if it wouldn't be- Destructoid

                    I will admit the love for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is rather encouraging, though.

                          I'm hoping Epic Mickey does well. It has a lot of promise and Warren Spector is aiming to deliver. Its not only something I'm looking forward to as a game, I'm hoping it does well enough to get Disney on giving the mouse some real work again.

                            Actually the content of the charts are pretty typical on the run up to Christmas Parents will be buying the shovelware for their kids y'see and publishers are pushing the cash cow franchises. It's all by the same two or three publishers in general as well:

                            You'd be surprised at how well RPGs actually do over here and they tend to stick in the charts for a bit until the next cash cow release inevitably knocks it out of the charts.

                            Basically the UK charts will look something like the contents of that link until the Spring game releases really, then you tend to see a slightly better cross section on what games are popular over here (once you filter out the obvious shovelware people are getting for their kids and the inevitable big EA/Activision release of the quarter).

                            I could see Cataclysm potentially knocking Block Ops off the top for a couple of weeks though. Blizzard are pretty fucking stupid really. Like Squeenix and Final Fantasy, Warcraft is popular in Europe but they treat their European customers like shit despite the games market in Europe being bigger than the US's market.

                            EDIT: Developers also rarely seem to care about investing in actually advertising the fucking games in the UK. FFXIII's release was an utter nightmare because Squeenix didn't spend a penny in marketing the game over here. I know for a fact that at my local Game, 15 people turned up at the midnight release because hardly anyone actually knew the UK release date for the game.

                            EDIT2: No I am not counting those stupid fucking Jedward adverts for Dragon Quest, besides Nintendo, in their usual marketing genius were the ones that foot the bill for that advert and came up with the idea of putting those two cone headed twats on the TV when anyone in the Uk would have paid Nintendo to see them dragged out into the middle of the Dragon Quest Event in London last weekend and Hung, Drawn and Quartered.
