Is running the game at single-digit frames per second normal? Because that appears to be the case for me right now . . .

Sort of. If you've been paying attention, some of those little achievement icons are in a category called "Daily" Achievements, which are a once-per-day bonus for doing various things . . . namely, killing lots of stuff, killing lots of different stuff, gathering a bunch of things, and completing events. The second and third, as you might notice, require the most conscious effort (read: any at all). Completing each tier of Daily Achievement rewards you with bonus exp (a more pronounced difference in this game from FFXI is that everything gives exp like candy from the word go), but if you complete all of them, you get additional exp on top of it, as well as a relatively decent monetary reward, and some special-looking coin item. As the name implies, they are reset every day. Be sure to click on the shaking treasure chest to claim your rewards!

There are also Monthly Achievements, and my hat goes off to anybody bothering to screw with those until September.

My current complaint with the game is that the default control scheme is kind of awkward, especially for a melee character. I suspect in my case b/c of the keyboard I use that rebinding all the keys won't be a very good fix, so I'm planning on ordering a new mouse this week.
Already changed my movement scheme, because screw WASD with a pike. My main gripe at this point is, quite frankly, the camera, and the fact that I have to mouse to pan it around (and I have to go into the settings and set it to max speed in order for it to pan at a decent rate at all).

This game is such a nice change of pace from FFXI's "let's stand around waiting for a few hours" model of gameplay.

Well, as I feared I didn't get the name I wanted, so I had to compromise.

    Details

That said, the more I play Mesmer, the more and more I really like certain aspects of it, including aspects I initially thought that I would be a bit "meh" on. Example: Staff Mesmer. Turns out, Chaos is a lot more useful than I thought (and, naturally, just as fun).

On a different note, heartbreaking is almost being done with your Dailies, then going out to get the "gather materials" requirements, only to see that the Daily timer had been reset. ;_; For some reason, it feels like Daily variety is a touch more difficult in the Human areas than the Asura ones.

That said, I think I will be remaking my Asura Guardian today. Pain Inverter is just too cool.

Hmmmm... They really did do it then. XD

My computer should be able to run it fine then as well.

They're having a lot of issues with the AH right now. They said they're looking into the problems and updating their facebook page in regards to it. Otherwise, game is running insanely well for a head start. Wasn't around for the first few hours of release (I like sleep), so I can't comment on that bit of it.

    Really enjoying my Mesmer. :]

I was getting similar rates this morning but I'd already grabbed most of the files during beta weekends. I don't think there's much you can do, although it did finish up for me once I rebooted the client.

I've been having a blast this morning, but some stuff still seems screwy. I got booted from character creation b/c I took nearly an hour to tweak everything. That was annoying as hell but it went a lot faster once I knew how I wanted my Charr to look so it wasn't the end of the world. The Auction House seems to be broken as it won't let me sell anything, it just sits with a loading screen. There was some nonsense about activating my guild wars account and a confirmation email that linked to some sort of internal syntax error.

All that aside though, I'm having a hell of a good time.

I take it you're downloading from the patcher thingy, yeah? I was having that issue with one of the patches and it took it awhile to pick up. Otherwise, I'd just say open your ports.

Crap. So presumably I need to be closing Firefox straight away so my client updates faster and I can make sure that a certain name I want isn't taken (no, you don't know what it is).
