At least server-hopping will be free for a good while after the game goes online, so some of us can basically see which is the better option between Ehmri Bay and Crystal Desert (thanks for the correction, Etra) for a bit before finalizing their decision.

Which is totally awesome that we aren't locked into a "hey, where is everybody (I know)?" scenario from the word "go."

I'll be intially starting on Ehmri Bay as earlier notified, but at some point I'll be dropping into Crystal Desert to compare environments. Probably would save the post-starter area experience of my second character for this server hop.

As much as I'd love the concept of WvWvW, for what it's worth, I think I'd prefer to PvE to level cap first before I start on it.

90 minutes 'till "pre-purchase" accounts have access! Excite! And pretty darn well timed, since . . . well, I'll be posting that in the appropriate thread.

You could also find people to play with on Ehmry Bay, and you could also suggest that your other friends start there.

I'm trying to understand the logic behind closing off options.

Because those friends look at server stats (which guilds are going where) and Crystal Desert seems to be the best choice in terms of WvWvW. Not to mention, I can just cross server play with anyone on here. I'd rather do that than pick a server with you guys and have you stop playing.

No. I'll be going to a server where people I know play. And even if I wasn't, I'm sure I could find people to play with on said server. Since, you know, much of the fun with these online games is socializing.

You could also find people to play with on Ehmry Bay, and you could also suggest that your other friends start there.

I'm not really sure if I'll play at launch. I've just spent on a bunch of things (and SSD included) and still have a lot of stuff left to do in the original GW, so I might wait for a while before getting this one. I did have a lot of fun in Beta though, so it's not a matter of if, but when I'll actually get to play.

The main problem with this is that many people I know are still rather indifferent about which server to go to, and since Cid so adamantly suggested that we go to Ehmri Bay (though I personally would've felt that Crystal Beach would've been a tad more appropriate), that's what I've been telling all my friends.

I wasn't trying to strong arm anyone into it, I just picked a server since no one else was offering up any suggestions.

Yea, I've seen all the videos. Heavy shaders and post-processing doesn't make it look any more appealing. It still looks like WoW 1.5.

Because everyone knows graphics make the game.

So far, I am so going Asura. I wonder if they come in blue...

Asura are indeed more awesome than I initially suspected. The first character I'm going to make is a Human, though, because I want a specific name . . .

Still want to make a Norn, though. Three characters, hrm. At least I get to try out all three of Guardian, Mesmer, and Elementalist.

And yeah, do let me know when that wiki's back up!

(Hoping to beat Maat by Saturday, so I can focus on this for a bit.)
