Re: Nintendo 3DS
That event is free entry, too. Unfortunately, it's like $16~ in train fare and a few hours of riding for me to get over to the Messe, and to deal with lines that mean I probably get to play for three minutes after hours of waiting, I doubt I'll be going.
If someone could find out what the "two outlet shopping centers" everyone mentions but nobody fucking elaborates on because gaming journalism isn't enough of a fucking joke as is, I'd appreciate it.

32 Nintendo 3DS titles to be shown in Tokyo next month- Destructoid
The hype machine returns later next week, I believe NOA has an announcement of the price and US launch line-up later in January.
Still, 32 games to show off and half of them are playable at this JP event, that's a pretty strong showing for a new platform pre-launch

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Its Sony, they can't help themselves when it comes to making things too high spec for the general consumer.
They said they were going to take handheld gaming "out of the ghetto" (Sony's words) with PSP and for all the hard lessons Sony should have learned, it certainly doesn't show with the choices they went on to make for PS3 and PSPGo.
Whatever the case may be with 3DS, I'm fairly sure once the early adopters have it, the price (wherever it starts out)will drop by $50 at most before the holiday, as that's when Sony is angling to have the PSP2 out. Oh, it exists, its the industry's worst kept secret. Warner Bros and EA have already blabbed about having the PSP2 dev kits. The world can only wonder why Sony's pretending its a secret.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
I'd pay 500 bucks for properly made PSP2, but I wouldn't want a PSPGo even if it was free.
Inventory space alone (IRL) is worth more than that piece of trash.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
And I think that the price of the PSP2 will be influenced by the 3DS's price. Companies will eat some of the price at times to release in a certain price point but seeing Nintendo take the jump into $300 price point will probably make them bold enough to do so too. They may wait to see how well its received but I don't think it will stop them from taking the plunge.Originally posted by Omgwtfbbqkitten View Post
Its going to be peanuts compared to what Sony will want us to pay for a PSP2 at any rate.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
I don't like that its $300, but I'll pay it because I've got no reasons to doubt a Nintendo handheld based on history alone. I have always bought Nintendo handhelds at launch, and I can't say that about any other handheld or platform - that includes Nintendo consoles. Waited just about four years to get a Wii and PSP because I didn't see the need til this year. Same thing with PS3, which I hope to have soon enough.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
The price is too high for a handheld and I'm one of those idiots that has multiple consoles/handhelds.
And there is no reason why people can't express their concerns over the price in a thread about the device. The Ignore Feature is there for a reason.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Yes, let's bitch about old news like its going to do something. They know people want it, they know people will pay it and they have the line-up to back it up. And honestly, if you think that's steep I assure you PSP2 will be steeper than that.Originally posted by Malacite View PostTold you Nintendo was out of their minds with that pricing point...It costs more than the Wii for crying out loud! Oh there's certain to be a swarm of early adopters, but I'm not even considering that thing until they drop it to $200 or less.
I got five months to save $300, it won't be much of a feat.
Also, we only know the equivalent to yen in dollars. Could be different in the US and I'm sure there will be some other incentives thrown in.Last edited by Omgwtfbbqkitten; 11-09-2010, 02:36 PM.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Jesus christ, 300 dollars? That's... too much. I'm barely willing to pay 300 to replace my xbox (which I haven't done yet, grrrr).
I would rather buy a new intake for my car as well as a gps unit for my stereo deck with that money.
Video games are expensive.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Caught this little snippet off Magic Box:
Not a rumor, Iwata discussed this in a recent interview while discussing the interest in 3DS.Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said that the company is considering bringing NDS games to North America and Europe, that were never released outside Japan, in order to stabilize the NDS user base while transitioning to 3DS. Some of the candidates include Soma Bringer, Blood of Bahamut, 7th Dragon and Fire Emblem II.
Soma Bringer is Monolith Soft's first Nintendo DS game, Xenoblade being the project they had for the Wii. It was a Chrono Trigger-esque RPG with Secret of Mana/Diablo-ish multiplayer. You can work on the same screen or split up from your friends.
Blood of Bahamut was an SE original, I heard it wasn't that good, though.
7th Dragon is a hotly demanded RPG, but something Sega has been extremely reluctant to bring over. And naturally, Fire Emblem II is a remake of said game, and Nintendo wouldn't bring it over for some reason.
Let's hope they add Last Window, the Hotel Dusk sequel, to the list. Last Window got JP and EU releases, but still nothing on an NA release.

3DS Shopping Channel revealed - Destructoid.com
Details about the online store were revealed today.
Totally new and more intuitive interface, demos for newer games, video clips and so one, More or less, it merges the Nintendo Channel and Wii Shop channel like it always should have, but far less archaic.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3azFRhOPsw[/ame]
Let's hope they can fix the Wii Shop to match.
The reveal didn't say much about what outside of GB would be available, but I'm hoping they're going to have GBA games at launch as well.Last edited by Omgwtfbbqkitten; 10-29-2010, 11:11 AM.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
heh I can claim some help in those falling numbers, I have talked atleast 20 people at my store alone to wait for the 3DS instead of getting a DSi or DSi XL
I might not like the #D concept very much, but I love how I can use it to make people wet themselves ;p
