Personally I don't trust downloadable content simply because I've played enough games, DLC or otherwise, where the company tanks and vanishes off the face of the earth at which point having a physical copy of the game is a hell of a lot more reliable than trying to re-download something from a non-existent service.
Yeah, totally sure Nintendo's gonna be the one to curl up and die out of nowhere. Sony's in massive debt and they are still here and putting up the servers and letting developers choose to put their games on PSN or not. Digital distribution is where everything is going - its not only reliable with Sony and Nintendo, but countless PC games through the Steam service..

Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and Steam aren't likely to go anywhere anytime soon. I'm not worried. Whatever small time developers die out, other companies could easily buy up the rights to their games for distribution.

I'm still not hearing a valid reason not to include the GBA slot.
Because you don't want to listen.

DS Lite is what you want, not DSi. Nintendo isn't going to halt production on Lite anytime soon. Adding a GBA Slot to DSi or DSi XL is going to add more bulk and cost to the package. I don't think Nintendo wants DSi at a PSPgo pricepoint in the US.

Re: New DS with Larger Screen.

While I do enjoy my DS Lites ability to play GBA games, is noone else bothered by the cartridge sticking out? Shit really gets on my nerves sometimes. I LIKE how slick the DS Lite looks compared to the old fat DS, and it fits into my pockets easier, but that damn cartridge sticking out...

I haven't bothered upgrading either my DSL or my PSP, but if I was, I'd just buy a GBA Micro cause I saw my friends and frankly it's amazing. Would be more than suitable for popping in one of my GBA games(have around 40, and that's not even alot compared to the collection people acquired during its lifetime) whenever I want to play something.

I have a DS, DS Lite, and a DSI. I'll be importing this sucker...happy birthday to me!

If you want to play GBA games the right way get a Gamecube with a Game Boy Player. (It's an add on that snaps unto the bottom of the GC and lets you play GBA games on your tv.)

The more I look at the DSi XL, the more I kinda do want it, but then I think about the MP3 playback and how it wouldn't fit as cozy in my pockets. It really is pretty big compared to the current DSi and even the DS Lite.

Yeah, you say that now but check back with me a few decades from now and we'll see if things are still running as smoothly.

Actually you didn't bother outlining your reasoning until this post, it was all implied up until now.

I can't imagine adding a GBA slot would skyrocket the cost of the system, unless you're talking about halting the entire production process and starting over which would be unreasonable so we'll ignore that scenario.

It sounds like the smaller size is a real selling point for you and some other folks, so I guess I'll concede that point as something of a personal preference. Personally I went out of my way to get the old DS because I couldn't stand how small the DS Lite was.
