This is definitely Front Mission 6 (trademarked as Front Mission Evolved in the US). Those are the same audio samples used from FM5.

2ch claims that the game is going to be a pure RTS and will be 360/PC exclusive.

While FFvsXIII is a very modern world (FF8 Dollet, anyone?), it's definitely not Earth as we know it. Or it had better not be...

This game, I get the feeling it's a not-too-distant future of Earth with all of our silly history. And it could be awesome.

You know Malacite, even though some of the stuff you say might not be completely preposterous, I think its the way you say it that makes people immediatly jump on you and because you do it systematically too. If you can't live with people bitching about what you say, how about you stop doing it or maybe do it with subtelty? Or, you know, deal with it?

Oh just shut the fuck up would you? Your constant QQ over anything I post is just as or more annoying than when I bitch about stuff (and I know I get on people's nerves). I was making an honest criticism in relation to the average timing of the release of each expansion.

There's roughly a 1.5 ~ 2 year gap between each one, and we're right on schedule for SE to start teasing us with info on the next one was my point. I've still got plenty of things to do in-game so I can wait, I just love to speculate when new tidbits are released ^^ (I'm also curious about the potential 2 new jobs the devs talked about in an interview)

On topic, Joystiq has reported on this as well and they think it could be FM for the 360.

The dynamic duo (taruffic team?) of Murphie and Illuen have reappeared once more to protect the world of Seraph from Malacite and his whining.

Fixed that for me. I was actually going to do something like that originally, but I decided that I'd be nice. Until I saw the post above this one.

The next FFXI expansion will be the mini one about the Moogles.

Wrong. Well, yes it is the next of the 3 coming out, but these 3 mini-expansions are not a substitute for the next big one, which is what i was getting at.

Will expansion discs and add-on scenarios be developed simultaneously from now on?

Tanaka: Expansions and Version Updates are handled by Ogawa and the Event Team. They have the next year’s worth of Version Updates mapped out, but that is a separate line of development. The Battle Team, however, is involved on both ends and has their work cut out for them.

So, Tanaka, would you say the idea is that there are two lines of development running concurrently?

Tanaka: That’s right. These three new scenarios are separate from the main line of development, and are meant as fun additions to the game.

If that’s so, could there possibly be a set release schedule that continues beyond the second and third add-on scenario?

Tanaka: I don’t know about that. (laughs) Expansion discs are designed to add new maps and play aspects to the game. Downloadable content is good for the free trial and such, but I don’t think it will become our main line of development.

So basically (saying this for like the 100th time now between various ppl who don't keep up) they have 2 dev teams atm. One that's dedicated to the mini-expansions lead by the guy who wrote the original FFXI story, and the regular guys who are working on updates, 2 more jobs (though nothing is final atm) etc. SE is due for announcing at the least the name + sketchy details of the next major expansion, though at the rate they're going we probably won't see it until 2010 instead of late this year.

Damn I was hoping you'd found the trademark for SE's next expansion or something (It's about time they announce what the next one will be, WoTG has been out for over a year and a half now so they're due)

While I would dearly love a new FM title, IIRC they never even released 5 outside of Japan.

It's possibly going to be called Vanguard Storm. SE recently submitted that name to the US patent and trademark office.

FFvsXIII is set in the same universe as FFXIII, but on a different world with a more modernized setting. That one is still fantasy, though, as a new power called "magic" emerges... like we haven't seen that subplot before, but w/e. It also has a mafioso/Romeo-and-Juliet vibe to it and Shakespere was quoted in the FFvsXIII trailer.

Nah, I think this is something different. The setting here is a little more futuristic than that of VsXIII and FM, though I wouldn't say it looks so by leaps and bounds. I'm just hoping its not a squad-based FPS or something.

Isn't vsXIII supposed to be based on the real world? Although I don't see why they'd put up a teaser like this.
