ding ding ding. Almost all of the "HD Media" hype is wrong.

The benefit of HD DVD and Blu-Ray is mostly in space. Obviously, having three-six times the space is nothing to scoff at. But then a lot of it is wasted for the sake of being 'uncompressed', which is somehow magically better than lossless compression.

Look at the size of HD downloads on torrent sites and the like. With some compression methods, HD media can be squeezed onto DVDs, especially with two DVDs being used for longer titles (anyone who remembers VHS remembers this)

Of course, if we just went to "DVD2", nobody would make money on selling everyone new manufacturing methods, new players and drives, and related crap.

After watching both trailers, I only have one response... "Can I haz teh car (FF Vs. XIII)" I think after watching I'm more interested in the FF Vs. XIII story. It looks like Final Fantasy meets Godfather. Also, I want that suit the main character has on.

There was an article over year ago on IGN that really caught my interest.

Basically up until now they've had to give weapons the bare minimum amount of detail due to system limitations, but now that's all been thrown out the window with the 360 and PS3. So we can expect to see some really interesting and detailed weapons for once ^_ ^

HD-DVD is dead.

That's neither here nor there with what Susurrus was saying. Their point was that you can use a normal DVD to put stuff in HD. Thus, "DVD cannot = HD" is false. It's just not practical.

I can't wait until Playstation 9 comes out. By that time the Final Fantasy XXV will be in Hologram-[Blu-Ray]-[HD-DVD]-[GD-ROM]-[IMAX 10-D] with 15 speaker surround sound. No, that's not a bunch of formats, that is 1 format all together! The disc would cost OVER $9000! You'd get free eye surgery with each purchase just so you could see the graphics in the game.

First it looks unbelievably pretty but are they concentrating too much on graphics? What exactly do we know about the story or the battle system? I couldn't care less about the graphics as long as the story is epic and the battle system is good. Although I doubt I'll ever buy it, I'll just see my cousin playing from time to time and emulate it on a PC (when thats possible of course). And I have to say versus looks more interesting to me

Offtopic:
Does anyone else hate the "high definition" marketing? Especially the phrase "full hd" which I say to "ITS NOT PC GAMES GO TO A HIGHER RESOLUTION DAMMIT!!!!!" And what does everyone expect to be after 2560x1600? I really don't see how high they could go because at the moment (correct me if I'm wrong, I don't want to face the wrath of Feba ) only 30 inch+ monitors reach that resolution and when they combined the 4 ps3's together for 3840x2160 they done it over 220 inches which is not practical for our rooms lol. Also why doesn't anyone do "1080p" games cause to be honest they've been around in PC games for ages and disc space shouldn't be the limiting factor, 3 DL DVD's would give you a single blu-ray disc (give or take) and since when did dvd have anything to do with not being able to display 1080p content? At the end of the day its down to the resolution of the textures not the type of storage. I can understand it in films because they set a standard so it can be played in all players.
