Even if it's multidisk SE was already talking about video and sound compression when referring to the 360 version of the game.
Fortunately for SE probably not many 360 owners have a PS3 (or a blu-ray player) as well so they won't notice if they are missing quality anyway.
I find the level of quailty in PS3 games, to be over hiped anyway, if FFXIII stor y and gameplay is good, I wont care less if the sound and graphics are slightly compressed

That's because developers for the PS3 are lazy bastards. Actually, MGS 4 is the only game I own that displays 1080p.
Though I came across something interesting today. Almost every 360 game now has 1080p listed in the display settings (where as most PS3 games only do 720).
WTF is up with that? First off, everything I've read and been told by people at credible retailers says DVD simply just can not display 1080p. So what gives?
Did I miss some kind of revolution in DVD production, or has the public simply been fed lies this whole time? If so many 360 games can in fact do 1080p (though there's gotta be some serious cuts in quality vs a Blu Ray disc due to size limits) what the fuck have the devlopers for the PS3 been doing?
More like the games support 1080p setting on the 360 so the display doesn't revert to 720p while playing the game, but they are still rendered in 720p.
Most if not all PS3 games are currently using a "background resolution" so to speak of 720p, then they upscale it to 1080p while using a 1080p display. It works pretty much the same way XI does when you modify the registry for background and overlay resolutions.
Some 360 games didn't support that from what I'm told so they had to run in 720p, but now they all support that upscaling.
That being said, in a few years when developers learn how to use the PS3 the tech gap will start to notice a lot (although knowing M$ by the time that happens the Xbox1024 or something will be out for sale .)
PS > Devs still are unable to use the full power of the PS3 so they stick to 720p background res to keep framerate, heck GTAIV for the PS3 actually runs at a lower BR than the 360 game. So you can imagine for which console it was developed and then ported to the PS3 from there. >_<

BluRay is NOT the only thing that can display 1080p. HD-DVD can, as well as games. (Computers can do that and higher, of course.)
It isn't the format itself that decides on HD. The thing is, higher resolution takes more space. The main problem that takes so much space is the video. That's why you'll see stuff like Lost Odyssey be on 4 DVDs while Oblivion is on 1 DVD. Lost Odyssey has a ton of video, while Oblivion is all rendered.
Hell, there's a burn method out there to make a standard DVD read in HD-DVD players as an HD-DVD and display 1080p content, but you only get like 15-30 minutes of video or something.
FF13 is coming to the 360 and I'm willing to bet it will be multiple DVDs. I would hope that they don't package it like they did Lost Odyssey's 4 DVDs (3 stacked + one in a disc sleeve on the side...wtf?), but as I'm getting PS3 version I guess it doesn't matter too much.
I'm pretty sure Versus is PS3 only still.
