And BBQ, I believe you are sorely underestimating the potential influence of an FF7 remake here. I don't think any other game outside of Star Craft or WoW has ever had this kind of massive following >. > (maybe Halo, but that's a bit of a stretch. FF7 is beloved world wide)

And how dare you cheer Aerith's death! I thought she was an awesome character. I wouldn't say she was ditzy so much as simple, as was further evidenced by CC. She just wants to live a simple, quiet life. Reminds me quite a bit of one of my friends actually.

    Plus she's hawt

I am until it comes to an FFXI remake.

I rationalize it by saying I was gonna buy a PS3 eventually, the remake would just hasten my purchase.

X-Box 360 and Wii, however, those are still up in the air.

Not all of us are wise with our money

Also, I forgot to say this earlier, but I cheered when Aerith died. She was the most poorly written ditz of a female lead character I have ever seen. And that's saying a lot since Rinoa wasn't that much better. Nonetheless, Sephiroth got cool points for offing Aerith. Doesn't rate quite up there with Kefka though, he gleefully poisoned an entire kingdom.

Regarding Sephiroth's Super Nova Limit Break - if it takes enough time for me to go take a piss and it still isn't over, the attack is taking to long. Trim it down please, kthx.

And yet, an FFVII remake alone will be the reason I buy said system.

    Kooky, no?

PS3 needs more than one game as an incentive to buy.

If FFXIII, MGS4 and GTA4 aren't getting people to come out in droves and buy it, nothing will.

At least, except for a real price drop, but Sony is at Nintendo N64 levels of arrogance right now, so I doubt that will happen.

If I were Kazuo Hirai right now I'd be begging SE (i.e. large sums of money >. >) to do FF7 again on PS3 and make an FF7 bundle.

The JP want a reason to spend that kind of money it? There you go.

V and VI were announced fo DS style remakes a while back, there just haven't been any first screens of either since FFIV was the focus for a while.

Honestly, though, my only problem with remakes is that it does kill some of the more campy elements of the original games. Things like Cloud dressing up as a girl to save Tifa, Rude slacking off his duties in Junon, Cait Sith in general, and "The Date" results in the Golden Saucer.

It will be interesting to see how well a game like FFVI holds up on DS. It could be playing with fire, though, as the 16-bit animations are immortalized in the minds of gamers in ways not even the characters of FFVII are. Just keep the hopping, animations and Kefka's laugh and it should be ok, though.

I guess, but from what I've seen around with the FF7 fanbase all over the internet, they'd be mighty pissed if it wasn't on a home console. By the way, I was under the impression that they only remade FFIII and IV for the DS? (Unless I missed an announcement of V VI, or unless you meant the GBA versions)

Anyway, I guess only time would really tell. I wouldn't be too fussed myself, just that I would rather see more polycount and texture resolutions for a remake of the original game that made me fall in love with RPG's in general.

I guess, there still aren't many reasons to buy a PSP yet.

PSP still has yet to meet my "Five game rule," meaning, if it doesn't have five games I want, I don't get the system at all.

Also, I think it'd be a bad move to release FF7 on the DS or PSP. The quality is greatly reduced and they'd have to cut back on a bit of stuff. I'd rather they just go with the PS3 or some other home console. Just my opinion though -- I would love to see more games for the PSP (only got it for God of War, Patapon and Crisis Core). Oh well.

True, it does rock. I should have been more specific -- was talking more like the orchestrated bits in the game (like the one-winged angel and credit themes). I think for the original FF7 game, I'd much rather see fully orchestrated music rather than a rock remix. But I'm still open for the idea as long as it's more like Crisis Core than Advent Children.

Definitely. I was just merely stating I hope he doesn't turn it into a full on rock soundtrack.

Yeah they're not bad, their third album kind of sucks though... Would be a bit out of place. I was more talking about the stuff he did for Advent Children -- some of it was alright, but a lot of it felt out of place.

I think that'd be awesome. But if we're talking PS3, it might not even need FMV and may break suspension of belief. Still I think that was done well -- especially since you could skip it once you had seen it enough.
