To be completely honest it looks like a Kingdom Hearts style fighting game where one button is attack and you hit it over and over. It doesn't seem that enticing. Also, there has been a makeshift fighter involving Final Fantasy characters before, go look up the game Ehrgeiz ^_~.

Yeah, upon playing FFIV, it really felt like there was a lot missing as far as the storyline and content, and a lot of the characters really just didn't seem as fleshed out as most other FFs after that (to be fair, though, it wasn't until FFVI that the series really started to work on characterization more; Bartz and crew seemed as paper thin as Firion's band from FFII, and III's misfits didn't even get any real story to them until the remake).

It seems to me that IV had a few main people, but ended up with quite a few bit players. Cecil, Kain, and Rosa definately stole the spotlight for a lot of people, as their story was the main drive behind the game, but others, like Palom and Porom, FuSoYa, and Edge, tended to be in the shadow of the other three. Of course, everyone loves a Spoony Bard, and Edward was a crowd favorite, even though he was a spineless coward (I really hope the remake fleshes out his story a lot more; it just seems wrong that his issues don't get a good resolution by the end).

RE Dissidia: Well, if they were to go with at least one hero and one villain per FF, then at least that's 24 characters to choose from. My guess, however, is that they'll do more than that for some of them, and not so much for others. Warrior of Light, Garland, Zidane, Kuja, and Sephiroth are more or less in the game; we're just waiting to see the rest of the roster.

I'm just hoping the final, "commercial" trailer for the game has one last scene with a bunch of FF heroes and villains all in one big massive fight. Sephiroth owning people, Kain laying down some Death From Above, Fran being sexy, Squall going "Whatever", everyone doing their thing, when all of a sudden, a bright light appears off to the side. Everyone turns to see who it is, then suddenly turn their weapons to that direction, ignoring whoever they were fighting a second ago. Heroes and villains, all suddenly allying with each other, cuz the new threat, as the camera pans over to where they're looking, is none other than Maat. Now *that* would be a trailer to see.

FF2 actually had a fairly decent story, at least out of the 1st 3. The remake of 3 is so much better than the original though. Arguably better than FF2 now that the 4 heroes actually have personalities.

Which brings us to a new question... If SE and Nintendo decided to bring two FF characters into Super Smash 4, and one area, who and what would you pick?

Hero : Cid. I know it seems weird, but he'd be a fun character, and he represents a larger chunk of the series than any hero could.

Villian: Sephiroth is the only one I think could really work (especially if it was put to a vote -_-), but some other boss might be better, like maybe one of the Turks, or Seymour. Eald'Narche or Kam'Launt could be neat in SS too, I imagine Kam' would fight like Mewtwo with a sword.

Area: Would probably have to be an XI BCNM, although it might not be popular. Possibly whatever Diabolos' BCNM is called, airship armada could also be neat, if SS didn't already have rainbow cruise.

As far as cameos in the next Smash Bros., if anything, SE would prolly take a cue from Mario 3-on-3 Basketball, and just simply have 8BT-style self-named characters, like White Mage, Black Mage, or Ninja, instead of any specific character(s) from any specific FF. Just one or two anonymous people representing a few of the many jobs availiable in the series; I believe it's the Job System that's as much representative of FF as it is anything else (along with Chocobos and Moogles).

You know what, scratch that last paragraph, I think I just answered the question in that last part of the last scentence.

"Mario vs. Link vs. Solid Snake vs. Moogle: FIGHT!"

If they go generic, it has to be Warrior and Blackmage. Moogle items could be awesome (hell, they look so much like Mr. Saturn it would hardly take any effort.), as could Chocobos (have them work like pokeballs, but with Chocobo whistles/grass/nuts. Randomly chosen of course, with fat chocobo being like super-snorlax)

I'd rather hear:
"Pokemon Team VS. Professor Shantotto... FIGHT!"

Oh god, can you imagine that? Shantotto needs to be in a fighting game, and SOON.

Noob Saibot? Smoke? Reptile? MK has about Umpteen secret characters throughout the series, but yeah, I get what you're saying.

For secret characters, I'd vote Maat and Gogo for starters, maybe Gilgamesh too. Ashley Riot and Sydney Losstarot are also some good ones, as would be Ramza Beoulve, Delita Hyral, and/or Orlandu "Thunder God Cid" Cidolfas.

Um I didn't think it would be that hard. I mean Maat knows skills from every job. A Mortal Kombat character could change into every character. Luichang? I don't remember, it was the final boss in the first game.
