ANYWAY, with S-E getting better at killing off RMT's (already downgraded to "annoying" in my book after the lack of x-mas inflation last year) and hack/cheat users' accounts (yay!), I personally don't really care that much about some class action suit against IGE.

Lawyers on both sides will profit, S-E will continue to wage its war against RMT's, RMT's will still be around, people who care will still find and point out "gilbuyers", and I'll get a laugh or two out of all that--then move on to more interesting topics. (e.g. SMN10 solo'ing is so slow, and I feel like a cad for having only Carbuncle. /sigh Why is my capped staff missing so much on "Decent Challenge" critters?! Why?!)

This law suit is strictly set up to pay for bunch of lawyers' second vacation homes; not that I'm against the suit, but I am glad S-E isn't wasting its money on it.

I'm still sitting here trying to figure out why exactly it's been posited in this thread that keeping worker wages artificially deflated with non-legal labor (by the federal standard, at least) relative to business profits, stock value, and executive salaries, is somehow a good thing for America.

"Doing work no american wants to"? maybe if it paid a fair wage for the labor you'd find Americans willing to do the work. it's not like that system didn't work in the previous 200 years of American history.

I'll admit, my last post was a bit heated and I apologize for that. But I don't see what you're talking about with the rest of my posts in the thread, aside from the return jab at DakAttack who was just taking an opportunity for a cheapshot.

Yes, he does. I made a statement that the two are alike with supporting evidence, and he said that they're nothing alike. In debate, when someone makes a statement that you disagree with, you don't settle with "you're wrong" and fail to provide proper supporting evidence, especially when the other side asks for further explanation when your initial statement is weak.

I mean hell. If someone said apples and oranges are very similar and I chimed in with "no, they have nothing to do with each other because oranges are easy to peel", the only feasible implied statement is that apples are NOT easy to peel.

Instead of letting him speak for himself on the question I imposed to try to further understand his point of view, you chose to butt in and turned it into a debate on whether he's implying something or not, which seems more like a case of "uh oh, I need to defend my message board buddy."

The economy in FFXI can function just fine without RMT.

And the US economy can function just fine without illegal immigrants. Removing them would impose the same level of initial shock that affected FFXI's game economy when RMTs began to disappear enmasse.

RMT aren't providing anything that isn't already being provided by players, save for gil for real money, which is against the rules anyway.

And illegal immigrants aren't providing anything that couldn't be already supported by legal citizens.

The fact remains, however, that this issue really has nothing to do with immigrants. I'm not sure why you keep harping on it.

This always kills me about discussion boards. Someone makes a comparison, someone else disagrees with it and decides because they don't agree with it, the subject matter should just be dropped and the opposing side needs to shut up. How about you quit harping on it, especially since you weren't originally involved to begin with?

1. Illegal immigrants are not necessary for a country's economy to function. Same applies to RMTs and MMORPGs.
2. Illegal immigrants are paid exceptionally low salaries for work. Same applies to RMTs.
3. Illegal immigrants are considered "bad" in all public forums. Same applies to RMTs.
4. Illegal immigrants are considered a problem, yet no one has been able to produce a solution to the matter. Same applies to RMTs.

Seems like they're pretty freaking similar to me, which is why I made the comparison to begin with. Prove that I'm wrong on all four of the above points, and I'll back down. Otherwise, your "fact of the matter" is anything but.

that second half of your paragraph is a bunch of bull. The only way to get us americans to do a job that no one wants to do is to over-pay them for the labor. (grave digging for example) Most the jobs that you are talking about atleast at one point had a fair wage but no lazy americans would step up to the plate.

Actually, I don't treat the illegal immigration issue as a black and white scenario. That's why I put quotes around "problem" and "bad" in my previous post. I don't show any animosity towards RMTs... the people behind the characters are just underpaid Chinamen trying to make a wage. Some of them do some rotten things, but no more so than a lot of the regular players. I personally have no interest in spending real money for fake money, but some do, and I've grown to accept its presence and just ignore RMTs in online games.

In a better world, these individuals would be getting a decent salary, but at least they're clicking mouse buttons instead of making sneakers. It's easier work, in better conditions at least.

so did my aunt and uncle from Italy, but its the fact that this country was founded and built upon rights and principles not "giving" to us Americans. Hell, it was stolen fron the Native Americans. And since my and your relatives moved here and accepted America as a way of life, they are contributing to he cause.

Plus no matter if you got here legally or illegally, you have no right to complain bc this is a illegally founded Country and ya moved here with your free-will. (of course I'm not saying that your relatives are complaining)
