MMORPGs are sort of weird animals. They mutate and adapt over time. Sometimes for the better (Anarchy Online)... sometimes for the worse (Star Wars Galaxies). It all depends on the skill level of the designers and developers. Unfortunately, if this really is the team that put together Everquest, I don't hold out a whole lot of hope to see a balanced gaming environment for quite some time.

I think all MMO's go thru balancing problems on jobs. IF its not the Devs making them to powerful or to weak. Its the player base flooding to the job. To that come to mind are Ninja in FFXI, an Hunter in WoW.

Even though they are the original EQ peeps. You cant hold their old problems on a new game. Maybe they are more prepared to deal with isssues they at one time wernt.

That's because both games get their inspiration in high fantasy.

That's a good shot, but I see too much Everquest art style involved. It looks so bland, but shiny nonetheless.

    So has anybody played it?

Regardless, from what I've heard from people who've played the game, if it were to be released in 6 months it would be quite polished and fairly good. Unfortunately it's being released at the end of the month.

LoL basically. After a time my system got way overheated, so i had to shut it down. something i never had happen to me with WoW or FFXI.

ABout the screenshots, the ones on the wiki are from when Vanguard didn't have the lighting system implemented (basically it was running in 'fullbright' mode). The newer screenshots actually show it with lighting and it looks much better... Though I am not really a fan of Vanguard.

Open Beta has begun and the NDA has officially lifted. The official site is getting hammered pretty bad right now, but I remember that Fileplanet members can download the open beta client right now. Not sure if it's paying members only or not though.

Everything on the wiki was gleaned from official screenshots, videos, interviews, dev forum posts, and other official sources.

I agree. I don't think it's terrible and can live with it though (which is what I said about WoW too.) Should look a lot better when they get environmental shadows working, not that any machine in existence would be able to run it with them on. :x

A lot of my best MMO friends are going to play Vanguard. I still want to play with them but I wasn't too attached with EQ1, not even the original one so I'm really thinking hard here :/

While it isn't the best quality video if anyone can watch this and say the graphics look terrible I question their level of vision or sanity.
