FFX-2 HD pissing me off something fierce.

Finally managed by some miracle to unlock the Youth League Cup, but I just can't handle the fights. Fucking leave it to SE to screw with things - they nerfed the living crap out of YRP to pretty much force you to use their shitty pseudo-pokemon crap that was added to the international version. For example, the catnip accessory now has an auto-berserk trait to it so no more Trigger Happy for 9999 damage each hit with critical HP which is making life complete hell against a lot of enemies, most notably Trema, Elder Drakes & Mega-Tonberry (FUCK MEGA-TONBERRY TO HELL!!!!)

The original PS2 release was waaaaaay easier. Not that I mind a challenge, but they took it too far with the nerfs (and buffing the bejeezus out of a lot of bosses, like in the previously mentioned cup. Nooj is especially OP). I could handle Mega Tonberry if he just wasn't so goddamn fast.... but he is, and hits for 30k+ damage.

Original version off of Good Old Games. I just didn't feel like digging out my discs and fiddling with compatibility issues.

    Enhanced Edition or old version?

I grabbed the EE off Google Play with my $10 credit for registering my Tab 4 the other week. Probably gonna play it soon since it ate up most of my on board flash memory. Thankfully file manager makes moving things to SD easy.

Picked up Baldur's Gate again. I forgot just how bad the pathfinding in this game was. Low level 2nd edition D&D is still brutal as fuck.

They do every expansion I believe. They are also releasing updated character models with WoD.

I'd invite you to my server/guild, but my guild is just me and I prefer it that way.

Did WoW update it's graphics engine by any chance? I've never played the game, but I've been considering giving it a first time try.

Speaking of games, just bought the Devil May Cry HD Collection along with FFX/X2 HD Collection. Loving the FF HD right now due to getting unreleased content from Japan finally. Dark Aeons and Penance!

    Not tonight, but:

Fuckin schweeeeeeeeet. (Who knew that posting on the WoW forums while bored at work would get me Beta access?)

Finished Shovel Knight. Brilliant game from start to finish. It had one of those final sequences you go and replay a few more times in the same day just because it was so good.

Started new game+. I'm taking double the damage and seeing half the checkpoints I originally did. I wouldn't say it's harder as all your old gear carries over and simplifies things a little, but you certainly can't get careless.

Yes I know all about Marathon and how Halo is essentially a re-envisioning of it but with the traits swapped; In marathon it's humanity that has the tech advantage rather than the aliens.

Never did get to play Oni but I've heard good things about it.

And in a lot of ways Destiny is similar to Halo, but on a grander scale (in terms of gameplay) and it's laughably easy to spot the influences/similarities, though that doesn't discredit it as it's own thing (or a good game) by any means.

Halo started as an RTS for Mac PCs. Bungie actually started out with Apple PCs with a series called Marathon being their biggest thing prior to Halo. Bungie did make and port a game called Oni for PS2, prior to MS's acquisition of their studio. It wasn't very good and lost in the early days of PS2 games back in 2000, around the time of Onimusha, Red Faction and Gran Turismo 3

A couple of interesting things: Halo started off as a PS2 project (and an RTS at that I think) before MS bought the rights to the franchise and offered to give them tonnes of support. The other thing is with Destiny, according to Bungie Sony has been working with them very closely from day 1 and is a big part of how the game came about and why they're giving PS platforms preferential treatment.

Bungie has excellent developers who know how to make the best of awkward hardware (even the PS3 beta ran reasonably well, and Bungie has never made a PS3 game before...), but it wouldn't surprise me if they took some sort of shortcut on the XB1 version.

Kinect's computational reserve was, according to official Microsoft PR, about 10% of the GPU. That's not nearly enough to cover double the pixels. It might be enough to cover the spread if they were almost at a stable 1080p/30fps on XB1 to start with. Even so, there have been precious few XB1 games that reach 1080p, and the ones so far that have done so made sacrifices or had reduced graphical intensity to get there (Forza, various sports games, indie games).

We shall see come September I guess.
