Eating less is a long process. I'm in the middle of it.

On the bright side, I've lost about 9 pounds over the past 7 days.

I do quite a few core exercises regularly actually...

Biking (only just found out that helps core, honestly thought it was just legs) crunches, squats, low-planks, captain's chair (why they call it that anyway?) and I use those over-sized exercise balls too (grip the sides with my legs and lift with my core 12~15 times + sit ups)

I also try to do at least 150 push ups a week but that doesn't really involve my core (I don't think?) just sort of a regular thing.

Mal, you've complained about not losing the gut, aside from cardio, what are you doing that directly works your core? Sit-ups are good for your upper abs, but they usually have a couple things you can use for your lower abs, too. There's usually a machine that lifts you up on your forearms and lets you do leg lifts. That or just hanging from a pull-up bar and lifting your legs out in front of you is great for lower abs. One thing you can do at home is the little scissor kick things. Lie on your back, lift your feet about 8 inches off the ground swing your legs out then back in, crossing them back and forth. Should work your lower abs really well. Hold a crunch while you do them and it will help with your upper abs some, too.

The only exception to that is probably the cybex machine (an advanced eliptical) as I crank the resistance on that thing to 50 and it's murder on the legs lol... can't take it for more than 4, 5 min tops. Great warm up though and it's made my legs really strong ^_^ (I'm almost maxed out on the back extension too, currently I do about 270 lbs and I think the max setting is 320?)
I wouldn't put too much stock into those machines. Everything you do on them is assisted in some way. Even results on a Smith machine aren't comparable to a free-weight bench and barbell.

Yeah, I mean the last time I lost 13 lbs that fast, I had just given birth.

That is more than just a mind boggle. 13 lbs are alot and dont just disappear. Unless you are grossly overweight, which from past posts i dont think you are, you might want to get yourself checked out...

^ that's the weird thing, I'd thought the same until I checked the scale on Monday and saw I'm actually 13 lbs less than when I last looked.

    It boggles the mind.

Considering he has said, "I like you exactly how you are" unsolicited, I think I'm safe here. He also doesn't try to make subtle hints at me to eat better or to go to the gym. Would he maybe like to see me back in a bikini body? Of course, he's a guy. But he's not going to dump me because of a few extra pounds.

And I would never change myself for someone else - just for myself. I don't need to validate myself to anyone but me.

But I agree, a lot of women are hyper-sensitive about it. I know I'm chubby. I don't care if he agrees with me about being overweight. I know I am. It's not like it's a secret or anything. Maybe it's just come with age or something, the older I get, the less I give a shit about what people think about me.

Ehhhh...... women have painted themselves into a corner with this one. Women have forbidden men from talking about their weight (if it's unhealthy) or suggesting that they need to lose weight. You should ensure you're not falling for a lie you're forcing us to tell you.

I will also agree with that.

I try to work out. I really do. Or I should say I try to want to work out. My boyfriend goes to the gym every day. Yeah ... not me. lol At least he doesn't mind that I'm chubby.

As far as workouts go, its pretty comprehensive and an excellent way to get and/or stay in shape. Best of luck to you.
I'll make sure not to post any of that on any website.
