Probably thinks it's impossible for a male to be raped by a female, too.

Isn't the statistic for that something like 8 or 10% of all cases?

I wouldn't know, but I also wouldn't be surprised if those statistics are skewed because of males being embarassed to report such cases, or those cases being dismissed by the authorities.

The frequency of it has nothing to do with people believing it's not even possible.

Now that we're talking about, said right leaning coworkers have also mentioned not believing that a man can be raped by a woman.

Remind your idiot coworker that "rape" isn't always an instance of body parts going into other body parts.

              Hint: Inanimate objects also qualify.

And this is why I don't trust anyone who defines himself as a conservative but not a misanthrope.

Everyone always just assumes Rape means a man having his way with a woman, but isn't it really almost an umbrella term for any unwanted sexual activity forced upon someone?

I think an unwanted sexual activity is considered sexual assault. For rape, penetration needs to be involved. Or so I was lead to believe.

That's... convenient for a big chunk of the population...

The issue with male rape is the adage "You can't rape the willing." It's based on some false assumptions, but most people consider it true at face value, and as long as it's believed you can't force a man to penetrate someone against his will, the only way to rape a man involves forcibly penetrating him.

I would like to know if that entire segment of the population missed the "random boner in the middle of algebra" period in life.

I just don't get the law... will be interesting to see if suicide rates go up because of this if their "pro bullying" then more kids are going to suffer

That would be most of them, then. I'm not sure if you want to "go there" with them in arguing what truly is conservative ideals and what isn't. If you decide to do so, I wish you well, maybe you should also write a will - just in case.

That is what is really the problem with this nonsense of our two political parties. Majority rules has its advantages, but it really forces you to take sides with one party even if you may disagree on key issues. I believe conservatives are deeply in the wrong by letting religious beliefs- and let's not pretend we're talking about anything other than Christianity here- influence policy making.

The country is closely following what's up with the GOP candidates right now. They're selling themselves by pitching faith and family, and the right is just eating it up and luvin' it. LGBT issues are THE social issues right now. I sometimes agree with Republican positions, but when it comes to anything civil rights related, the things they have to say just makes me want to reach for something alcoholic.

Months ago, the issue was illegal immigrants. And that was something I could kind of get behind them on. But, to me, that is such a minor issue when you think about how many jobs (and what kind of jobs) they actually take from an American worker. Nothing like the big businesses shipping jobs overseas at all. For all the blaming of President Obama over the state of the lack of jobs, nothing a GOP candidate has said has given me any confidence that electing a Right leaning president will suddenly lower our rate of unemployment.
