Umm, how is the Stone not Open-Source? Any possible copyright would've been obliterated billions of years ago, not to mention rock cycles have been rather well-known for some time now, not to mention that the various chemical compositions are about as varied as Linux distros. Is there something I'm missing here?

Open Source does not mean without copyright. Closed source doesn't mean that you don't know what the internals do either. Think of it along the lines that you would need Gods permission to take the crystalline structure of quartz and add it to your own quartz-ng. With that permission, or licensing fees, God would hand over the source to quartz and you wouldn't have to create a clean room implementation of it.

There seem to be some applications.

Think we are using different definitions.
When someone says multitask to me, I think "Capable of doing two or more actions simultaneously."
Whereas if something is capable of being used in different ways, I think that's multipurpose.

Perhaps because no matter how you look at it, if you change a Stone's coding, it no longer becomes a Stone? I dunno lol.

I don't understand the 6" drop issue. I've fallen asleep with my iPad and it fell out of my bed to the wooden floor on multiple occasions with no issues. That's well over a foot drop and I don't have any case on my iPad either.

He is not dumb, its called entrainment, there are guys all over the internet that do that, I have seen one group that takes donations to buy one, then go outside the store and smash them. I have seen it for the Wii, 360, and PS3, along with tones of other electronics. Hell I just love watching the reactions of the people in line when they do it ;p

In my opinion he is dumb. I bet there are a few people that would agree with me. You are entitled to yours as well.

IMO the ROI for destroying that iPad on video to post on the internet was very low.

Also, why the does it matter if iPad isn't in HD? and 1080p?

It honestly just bugs me when people buy things just to smash them. It's such a waste. You could have spent that money to help someone in need instead of giving yet another several hundred dollars to a corporation that hardly needs it and just for some tawdry entertainment.
