Although this was tough for me to deal with in the beginning, it's all natural now. The company expects a lot from you, here, but they treat you well. Really well.

It's not the pay that's important. Did you know the Harlem Globetrotters barely got paid enough to put food on the table?

I rather get paid $15 an hour doing something that I actually like as opposed to getting paid $25 an hour for something I would kill myself or someone else over after a few days into that crap. I think the economy is responding as well and is pulling back on the "spend, spend, spend, borrow, borrow, bankrupt" mentality in the early part of the past decade.

Pllus, company perks and benefits is another thing most people don't look at. If they pay for healthcare then that's like getting paid $30 an hour at some other place where you have to get your own health insurance.

I will agree that most software companies take good care of their employees.

However, I still think people are tricked into thinking game testing is fun and glamourous. From what I have seen, testers don't get nearly enough respect from the dev team (btw, I was at bioware for 2 years in finance, so I'm not making stuff up). Add in long hours and low pay, and I can confidently say that I do not envy them.

I'm with Aeni, I don't need to be paid a shitload as long as I'm having fun ... I made less at my last job but we had great people and a generally good supervisory staff, worked well together, workflow that made some semblance of sense, etc. I was happier there. I make 75 cents more an hour here and I'm miserable.

However, I do want to get paid more, just because this is barely cutting it right now. If I have some kind of emergency, I'm fucked. And yeah, I have no health insurance, but hopefully they'll upgrade me from temp status (if I'm still there ... but if they wanna upgrade me I'll take it, get some health insurance and get all my checkups done before I bail) so I can get the hookup lol.

Why waste money on a ring?

Pro tip from a guy: Wear a bandanna. It seems simple... but it will work. There are very few guys out there who would hit on a girl in a bandanna. A lot of us like to see a girl's hair... when we can't, we lose a lot of interest. Bandannaa are usually work appropriate and only cost a dollar.

Either that... or pick your nose in plain view. I read somewhere that you have a habit of picking your nose. This might be your best (see: easiest) bet.
