I don't buy this argument at all. Yes, the US presence in Iraq is diverting some of their attention away, but you'd be very naive to assume they aren't ALSO trying to find some way to get back at us on our own territory.

/Salute our sons and daughters over there taking the shrapnel for us.
On this we agree. I've never admired the US armed forces as much as today; they're there on the ground doing a job that some of them may or may not believe in - but they're still getting it done.

Funny how France is aginst this, not but 200 years ago they as a country hung all their leaders in the French Revolution /shrug
That was 200 years ago. Those people are all dead now. Might I remind you that it was less than 200 years ago that we had institutional slavery here in the States? Are you suggesting that we should take a step back in time and support slavery again just because our ancestors did?

I believe, the US has only ever been attacked by two terrorist sects... Palestinians who wanted their country back after we stole it from them and gave it to the displaced European Jewish folk, and Osama Bin Laden's Al Qaeda and associates who are Saudi Arabian. We used to sell arms (backhandedly) to the Iraqis in the 80's and we pushed them out of Kuwait, but the nation of Iraq has been a largely secular country with standard ground military supplied by Russia for many, many decades.

The US media pushes "Iraqi Terrorists" because it's sensational and it sells. These "Iraqi Terrorists" rely largely on standard Guerilla Warfare tactics (primarily explosive booby traps known as "road-side bombs") that the US has also been known to employ. US trap technology currently consists of land mines about the size of a sugar packet that can be scattered by airplane. They won't blow up a tank, but they'll surely take your foot off. Of course, we really don't need land mines as these are primarily defensive in nature to slow and or stall enemy troop movements in your territory.

The "Al Qaeda-Iraq" syndicate is a new thing that sprung up as a violent political resistance movement to prevent the installation of a US-friendly puppet democracy in their nation.

I'm not medicated for anything, though I probably should be.
