Re: Comic, Sci-Fi, and Super Hero Related Movies

My geek moment of June was seeing a Transformers edition camaro in the doctor's garage at work. I'm personally not a big fan of the yellow and black (wouldn't pay for one) but I can certainly appreciate it.

Williams Wants Riddler Role - Movies News at IGN

Seems Robin Williams wants to put Christopher Nolan on the spot about getting a part in the next Batman movie.

He's actually wanted to be a Bat-Villain for about twenty years now. He was in the running for the Joker on Burton's Batman and they went with Jack Nicholson. He was up for The Riddler in Batman Forever and they picked Jim Carrey.

I could see him as The Riddler in the current scheme of things. Some people say they'd rather see him as The Ventriloquist, but I don't think Scarface and the Ventriloquist are a fit in Nolan's Batman. I mean, sure, Williams is a spaz, but Scarface is a pretty rigid mob personality with a speech impediment. Batman just kicks his ass. every time after he gets through the rest of the mob.

Thing is, The Riddler is really the only villain that fits Williams and Johnny Depp could do that role, too. Either way, I don't think they're going to bring back the Spandex Riddler back to big screen. They should go for his current style instead:

Williams or Depp could work with that type of getup.

More ‘Green Lantern’ Photos: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, And A Floating Ring

CG costumes are a bit too over-the-top for my liking, though in the cast of Green Lantern and how they call up their costume, I suppose that's a necessary evil. Well, except if Guy Gardener is anywhere in the flick, he sports a jacket, which may be tricky to pull of in a CG/live action costume.

I do think Ryan Reynolds is an good pick for Hal Jordan, though, he can certainly manage Hal's sense of humor and disdain for those that get too authoritative. I've only seen him in The Proposal, which I did enjoy and showed he was more than capable of being defiant toward his boss, which is something you need in the Hal/Sinistro rivalry.

In related news, the GL in the upcoming Batman: The Brave and the Bold video game is indeed Guy Gardner. Also, Batman and Guy really hate each other, so it makes for good comedy material.

Why should you care about this game?

Well, its is the more campy Batman and this is more for kids, but there is the fact this is also being developed by WayForward.

          WayForward is known for:

          Shantae (Game Boy Color)
A Boy and his Blob (Wii)
          Mighty Flip Champs (DSi Ware)

All of them were excellent games, too. These guys know how to do some 2D action. They've also got a new set of Shantae games in the works, slated for DSi Ware last I checked. The Brave and the Bold will be for the Wii and the DS.

Ya know, The Brave and the Bold is a more campy animated version of Batman, but I like that the format allows for a lot of extra characters to be introduced. It sucks you don't get in depth back story like other formats, but at least they are getting screen time.

The Brave and the Bold is a great, well written batman series, camp or no. It's just a fun show to watch, which is why it's so great. It took me a bit to get used to Diedrich Bader as Batman (the dude from the Drew Carey show, as batman? NAH WAI) but for the Batman he's portraying it totally works. And I do love how it's all about B and C (and D!) list heros who've otherwise been ignored by the public at large. It's no Batman:TAS or JLU, but it was never meant to be.

"X-Men producer and writer Bryan Singer cleared up some X-Men: First Class rumors for us at the unlikeliest of places—a church in Hollywood, where he was a guest speaker on Sunday. After the hourlong talk, Singer talked to us about the casting—which he is in the middle of doing at the moment. Kevin Bacon is in; Taylor Lautner is out, for now; Meagan Good is uncertain.

"I wanted Taylor [Lautner] to do it, I really did," Singer said in an exclusive interview. "He's doing a movie in Pittsburgh called Abduction, and then he's got the next Twilight movie. We talked about it a lot—he is a friend—and I really wanted to make it work. It just doesn't look like it's possible to do it."

So, who is in it? Singer confirmed the latest Kevin Bacon rumor (as a villain). "Kevin Bacon, I do believe, is going to happen," Singer said even before the deal is inked for sure.

"James McAvoy is definitely cast as a young Charles Xavier, Mike Fassbender is in the movie, Nick Hoult, those are for sure," Singer confirmed.

"When I got to London four weeks ago, there was only one actor cast for sure, and that was really scary," Singer said. "I looked at this big board with all the characters and there was only one person cast, McAvoy, and yeah, that was really, really scary."

Actually, that's pretty much the point of The Brave and the Bold. Back in the day it actually was known as Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Batman had a wide appeal so they used it to give more heroes screen time.

When DC comics decided to downsize the number of comics published (something Marvel still isn't smart enough to do), they revived the brand, but this time its really just "The Brave and the Bold" and anything goes, Batman isn't required to be in it.

My recent favorite is still the Superman/Catwoman issue.

                  cover

They've also gone the extra mile to throw in mini-stories for other superheroes within Superman, Batman and other comics, which makes for a nice chance of pace. Not only that, but they also work hard to include more of the other heroes from within Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lanterm, the Justice League and even the Justice Society.

Its also why Batman's "Go to hell, I work alone" personality trait got kicked to the curb back in 2004. Mr. Terrific, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle just couldn't carry their own comic anymore, though Blue Beetle is now a bit more hip, so he got one back.

I really, really, wish Marvel would go that route with their comics. Sorry, but you only need so many X-men comics.

As it is getting closer to the release of TRON Legacy, I am debating on if I want to put together a costume or not. If I do, I can also wear it on Halloween to the local Anime Convention I'm going to at the end of October. Hoping I could do it in a way that looks better than TRON Guy's lol.

Ok so I d/l'd the Thor trailer a while ago and watched the Thor trailer. (Damn thing pretty much covers the entire movie) And today I came across this:

                                Thor Movie Trailer HQ

A fan edit but a damn good one. Its darker and not as polished as the one I watched......and I think I like it more! lol I used to read Thor back in the comic heydays and was rather looking forward to the movie but I have to say after seeing the trailer I d/l'd that I might wait till it comes to Blu. Now if it was more like that fan edit, I just might have seen it in the theatre.
