Right. How does that explain the very 60s fashion sense of the orgin. ... But still, when did all the chicks get issued the miniskirts? When did that become Startfleet regulation?
Rick Berman or some other Star Trek big wig also gave an excuse like "Since the Enterprise-E had gone back in time, it's and the crew's presence affected the timeline." This was in response to why Archer's ship looked more TNGish in style than TOS. Same could be said for uniforms I guess.

Bah! It's a TV show. They can easily say alternate timeline has stated from when Enterprise-E appeared back in the past. So, they can say:

        1) TOS happened they way we saw it, then First Contact happened and TOS re-happened with a different looking ship and uniforms. But, the history will still be the same. Hell, remember the uniform changed after the first Star Trek movie?
        2) Something happened after the Enterprises series that will cause TOS to happen the way we saw it. They mucked with timelines in that series like no ones business.

        Doesn't really matter though... d: It's a TV sow like I said.

It would actually make sense, (in an imaginary setting) if the person who designed the first machine capable of flying would simply watch a 747 he/she would definitely get an idea or two that would affect their original design.

Too bad Berman and all the other morons aren't that wise, and that's just an excuse pulled out of their... imaginations.

Had someone really gave a thought about that sort of things Enterprise would've been 10 times better.

Re: Star Trek XI (2008) Christmas Day

I remember an early TNG episode where a comatose Picard showed up in shuttle and it had something to do with him coming back and time and ended up saving the Enterprise. Something I read said that basically everything that happened after that point occured in an alternate timeline. Then there's the whole last ep of TNG where it was all time traveling and changing timelines and whatnot.
As for the first movie uniforms... jumpsuits ftw. I believe those are about the ugliest things I've ever seen.

Re: Star Trek XI (2008) Christmas Day

That episode was "Time Squared"...and yes, pretty much anything that happens in the show involving time travel does introduce an alternate timeline. One could argue that the entire franchise takes place in an alternate timeline, since the Sphere-builders, through the Xindi, attack earth during Enterprise.

Honestly, I don't see what was so bad about Enterprise...I was a hater after I caught random episodes on t.v., but when I joined Blockbuster Online I got the whole series, and me, my bro, and my sister-in-law started watching it from the beginning. And you know what? It wasn't bad...I've seen much worse episodes on VOY (which I thought blew but whatever), and the 3rd and 4th seasons were pretty damn good. I can see how watching it in a weekly episodic format might hurt a little, seeing as how this version of Star Trek had the most "carryover" from episode to episode compared to TNG, DS9 and the rest. I actually like the humor in the early episodes of Enterprise...Star Trek had been really "serious" at that point, but a lot of people weren't really into that at the time, I guess.

Of course, they ruined it when they finally decided to cancel it...Season 4 was actually really good, until they threw that rushed ending on the series. I was so pissed off when I saw those final episodes...for that reason alone, I think they should give Trek some time off and let things simmer for a while. The higher-ups involved in the franchise have kinda ruined it over the later years.

If this new Trek movie actually materializes, I'll see it, because I see everything Trek related. But some of the rumors I've been hearing about it are making me wonder; Matt Damon as a young Kirk was one rumor I read somewhere that made me cringe.

Oh well, guess we'll find out?

                More Trek this year.

Since they missed the 2006 40th anniversary, they are releasing stuff this year (20th anniversary of TNG) direct to video.
Star Trek: World Enough and Time (2007) (V)
Star Trek: Of Gods and Men (2007) (V) Tim Russ (Tuvok) is the director.

Re: Star Trek XI (2008) Christmas Day

I really enjoyed TNG DS9 and VOY. However when Enterprise came out, I couldn't bare to watch it. The three previous series all did 7+ years, and Enterprise couldn't even cut it to 5. Prequels usually don't work out really well. It really destorys and distorts the imagination of what happened previously on previous series'.

I HAD a good idea for a series. "Starfleet Academy". Timeline would be after VOY. It would be like Naruto except with a little bit of Dawson's Creek thrown in. ROFL. Instead of school yard fights, they have holodeck shuttle fights. hahaha.

All I know is, as the end of DS9, Benjamin Sisko moves on to a higher plane of existence with the Prophets, and hints at a return in the future.

It's time for Sisko to make a comeback.

I loved Captian Sisko, he was the perfect in-between for Kirk and Picard.

"OK, we tried diplomacy, no more reasoning, I'm kicking thier asses now."

He made Janeway seem like a nagging granny.

Its a shame they killed off Gul Dukat, though, he had the best movie villian potential since Kahn and the Borg.

I'd really like to see an ST movie set in the Mirror Universe, there was this great one-shot comic book Marvel did ages ago that was a sequel to the original "Mirror, Mirror" episode, it told the story of what happened after Goatee Spock was returned to his universe. I even liked the DS9 Mirror episodes, I'm surprised TNG never had one.

I've been hoping for this for some time now. I really enjoyed DS9, but at the same time the end of the series kinda of tied it off. They tied that series up pretty well with the last episode.

So yeah, younger actors for Kirk and Spock in a prequel. Still with such iconic characters you know there will be some very tight casting so Shatner and Nimoy's take on the characters are preserved.
I thought this was gonna be a TV series, and teh Shat gave his blessing to Matt Damon playing a younger Kirk. Perhaps I just misread something, or it was more rumor mill.

I really loved TGN & DS9, and I enjoyed some of the episodes of Voyager, but it wasn't my favorite. I tried to watch some Enterprise, but the damn theme song threw me off most of the time. I wanna watch them at some point for the simple fact that I've seen ALL the others. (DS9 was the reason I got my NetFlix account years ago! I followed up DS9 with all the Voyager episodes.)

I'm excited about this, but at the same point I'm scared now. It's not gonna be a TNG, and not DS9, dunno if I'll have the heart and/or stomach for it.

Damon as Kirk? Hm. I usually don't like Damon outside of Kevin Smith flicks.

But I see him working out as Kirk for some reason.

I;m with you Raydeus, DS9 was my favourite followed by TNG, I found the story lines on those, especially DS9 and the Dominion war more enjoyable, I still reserve to say that Babylon five series 1-4 really set teh scene for a Science fiction soap/drama etc. Series 5 just shouldn't have happened likewise Enterprise sort of didn't work for me.

Will be intresting to see a new directors direction though and hope it impresses me like the New Bond film did.

So in other words Omniblast a Smallville version of Star Trek for the next series to take off after that one ends? =P
Be interesting to see a series focused on the oppents of the Federation rather than be on the same "Federation Starship" Possibly maybe show what happened to the race of holograms that broke free after the incident with the Hirogen. Or what about make a series of the U.S.S. Prometheus (NX-59650) with an offical launch and its EMH MArk II is made captian =o Seeing how Doc was able to become the ECH why not actual captian?
