DrawDistance was the first thing I thought of when I read this also but maybe he's talking about differences in the way the two cards handle mipmapping.

        More or less I believe.

Correction used to be used. As in, stopped use on both machines with the official version's release in the November update. So eticket109 might have some point if that use still affects the game even now.

I see a huge difference, the contrast in the laptop version seems a lot more up to date than the desktop, also the desktop coloring is a bit off as well compared to the laptop. Maybe I'm just a perceptive person but the Laptop quality seems a lot better to me.

We might need to see it in person, but I do understand the concern about water.

Graphics are a moot point to me. I'm running with the 900 series Intel Integrated, and 1.5 Dual Core (at LEAST I HAVE 2MB of Cache. ).

I'm just happy when I have a constant 12-15 FPS.

Speaking of which, on the exact same computer, XP runs the game a lot better than Vista...

Is this the part where I complain about DX8 and stuff? Also my old comp handled XI exactly the same as my new one.

And like so many old apps, the older the system the better it runs the game (as long as you are above the minimum requirements).

Main focus, any way I can improve my settings to get the quality up to par?
I see no major difference between the two.

Your gamma settings are a bit low on your laptop, which accounts for the darkness.

The textures look slightly sharper on your laptop, but this might be a difference in video cards and drivers.

You have not stated the following:

                  -System Spec
                  -Driver Information
                  -OS

Yepp, your laptop trumps your desktop hardware wise, no question about it. The only real problems laptops face are overheating issues, but they are selling laptop coolers everywhere, and they're not terribly expensive. Other than that, the spec list you posted pretty much are in line with what I was anticipating

If you have the money for it, Dell is putting their XPS desktop units on sale, might be worth the look-see to find out what kind of configurations they got for the moolah you're willing to dishout.

*shudders at buying a dell* Its taboo to talk about buying desktops D:

Anyways, only thing my desktop trumps my laptop is that it doesn't lag while recording videos with Fraps :D

I must remember to find one, the left side of my laptop is usually the 'hot spot' during any prolong use.
