        Graffix ~

Indeed ild suggest the average gamer to stay away from an MX at all cost (unless cost is a serious issue). However by average i meant the average computer owner, not game player.

        PS
The FX 5200 is crappy. The FX 5200 (non ultra) is beaten by a GF 4 Ti 4200 (8x). Thats sad. Its easily KOd by a Ti 4800. Any radeon 9500 and up easily walks all over it.

By the way, jamul a Radeon 9600 is better than a FX 5600. In fact a 9500 with only 64 mb of ram beats a 5600 :p

Just thought I would throw my specs in and see what suggestions I get as I am looking at upgrading.

            Athlon 2600+
            512MB
nForce Chipset (I think it's got the equivilant of GeForce 4 on the board and it can take up to 128MB of system RAM for video use).

I get about 3200 on the low benchmark and the high benchmark I don't want to sit through because it's too painfully laggy to watch (I am spoiled with high frame rates).

The catch here is that I would like to get something under $100 so that I can throw another 512MB in the system (I like multitasking while gaming). But if I can't get anything really better I would be willing to go up to $150 on the video card and just forgo the RAM for a while. I am not looking for something to last me a long time as I would rather buy an average card for $150 now and an average card for $150 in 6 months than pay $400 for a bleeding edge card now (the same card that will be $150 in 6 months).

Any input is great, though I have already got quite a bit from this thread.

            -Micah

Get a GF4 Ti 4200 (8x if your board has it), or a Radeon 9000 or 9200. Those are around the 100$ range i believe.

Yes the 9600 is superior to the GF 4 ti 4200. 350$ sounds about right for a 9600 pro, but a non pro? I payed 200$ for my radeon 9800 non pro.
