Re: That brown-haired anime girl
Not quite like Excel Saga. There is a lot of hilarious comedy, though not as crazy as ES comedy. There is, however, more to it than just comedy. The plot is actually really clever but unfortunately the anime doesn't cover all of the material from the novels, so you won't see how deep the rabbit hole goes from the anime alone. Also, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu is quite unique since the story is presented in a non-chronological order. It's confusing at first but makes sense in the end.
Kyoto Animation, which is currently by far the best Japanese animation studio, is behind the series so you can't really go wrong. KyoAni simply does not screw up. Ever.
Now if only they would re-make Higurashi no Naku Koro ni since studio Deen is doing their best in ruining the anime adaptation for the most intriguing piece of fiction ever written.
