I cared very much how many gobbiebags I had. Lol. I needed every last bit of space I could get my hands on. I had 11 characters across two accounts and I played the "dualbox trade game" like four times a day.

Yeah, people brag about dumb shit in this game. List your 90 jobs if you must, no one cares about your level 2 MNK though.

Really though, nothing is worth bragging over in FFXI anymore. It's not hard to get to 90. It's not hard to get a relic even these days (if you have the gil, but people who had the gil when the cap was 75 still have it now). The only thing that's still kind of hard is Mythics and that's because of the 30k alexandrite requirement. Even that isn't that damn hard though.

But the thing is, if you did something the hard way or whatever, no one cares. They just think you're bitter about the changes because you brought it up. So you can brag about your super-easy 20 jobs at level 90 that you leeched through Abyssea and that practically anyone can do nowadays and people think you're a retard for bragging about something so easy, or you can brag about something you did in 2006 and not get the respect you deserve for it because people think you're just an old-timer who cares about the ancient ways or something.

It's incredibly stupid. Then again, that's basically the official forums in a nutshell. And bragging about something you did the hard way? You're elitist. Not that leveling to 75 pre-ToAU was hard at all, it was just time-consuming. Leveling has never been hard.

In fact, few things in FFXI were really hard except when they very first came out. Einherjar was still hard for quite a while after it came out. Only the highest tier linkshells were able to do it with any consistency for at least a year - until they nerfed it, basically. CoP (before the meganerf), Absolute Virtue. Pandemonium Warden. There aren't many things you can put on that list. In fact, I may have pretty much covered it. If you had a legit AV kill before the cap increase - and by legit, I don't mean wallhack or zerg - you'd have a reason to brag. Nobody did, but they would have.

So yeah, I know you're kidding around with me, but when you think about it, few things are really worth bragging about anymore.

It's not necesserily "stuff" that people are after. There are examples of people like... say Selphie or Pekko... who's contributions to their respective websites earned them invitations to things like E3 and other such events.

Pikko maybe, Selphiie never reached such heights.

And having been really close to Selphiie, having built and led her CoP static and watching her disrespect the groups time and effort at just about every turn - yeah, she was a real winner. I was happier that I got some German players through that static than her - and I recruited them for her benefit. I just have respect for people that bring their A game, she was always late, unprepared and sometimes she didn't "feel" like being the job the group needed.

Additionally, while for a time Aniero let her on our art staff, she always tried to pressure me to put in good words for her so she could get a mod or an admin position.

I told Aniero these she was interested, but because she nagged me so much about it - I advised him against it. He wasn't going to promote her further anyway, mostly because of all the negative attention she tended to attract and her tendency to flame back.

As for her farming site, she only kinda complied the information - but the site, the real work, that was done by an Austrailian fellow named Sellsword. Selphiie kinda stopped working with it once she got deported.

I could go on and on about what a nightmarish, self-serving primadonna Selphiie really was, but I don't have the time right now. Selphiie was a talented photoshopper and good at farming, but otherwise an insufferable idiot.

CoP was EPIC and brings back fond memories to anyone that played ffxi. (disclaimer to avoid kranky kong: Unless you didn't have a good static, which i had for 6 years. )

Now on the BG forums people are going out of their way to make awful sigs for the official forums. If I were able to create an account there myself, I'd give myself the most godawful sig ever.

Hopefully they'll get the message and turn sigs off.
