Really? I'd pay to see Aksannyi vs Naturebeckles. Even though I know it'd be a very one sided fight. Looking over several threads there and she seems to dominate all the highlights.

Anyway, talking about how to get better via knowledge of FFXI seems like a done deal. People know what works and what doesn't work and how to maximize. It seems to me like people would be better off using forums like that to discuss the issues in the game that you can't attach numbers to. You know, stuff like:

- Is Abyssea killing the game?
- SAM and DRK are now considered the jobs that are disadvantaged by the current system. Is this wrong? Or is this simply the pendulum having swung in a different direction?
- Is any job favoritism wrong or should absolute job balance be the goal of the developers?
- Does job favoritism mean some jobs are overpowered relative to other jobs? Or are the jobs fairly even and favoritism is just a shortcoming of the players?
- What can they do to make people interested in the rest of the game again?
- Should RDM get an update?

Seeing people fight the math behind the game though just has me banging my head against the wall. It is in these kinds of discussions where I see people actually get passionate and there really is no right or wrong answer. Those are the kind of threads where I feel like I learn something from the perspectives that other people have on various issues in the game.

None of this bullshit of 10 pages of one person spreading blatantly false information because she doesn't understand the difference between a fact and an opinion...

EDIT: Hmmm, a "Same-sex Marriage" thread. Some posters in it, coming from an MMO gaming community, are posting the requisite "Fags trying to ruin it for everybody" comments.

Now there has been some incredibly stupid stuff said over there. I have already gotten hours of lulz from the official forums. But holy fucking crap, I can not believe it's 2011 and there is shit like this that people do not know.

The thread is about Haste. How it works. It shows the math. How using haste will increase your damage output over time. This person refuses to gear swap on her THF because of A. blinking and B. she prefers to optimize/balance all of her stats. So she does equip some haste, she just doesn't stack it. And she doesn't swap for WS. Oh lordy.

The thread is here if you're interested in losing some brain cells. SE has a habit of nuking threads though, so I can't promise it'll still be there tomorrow. :/

I almost cried from reading that thread. Some people are mind-numbingly stubborn.

Just now read those, felt like putting my thoughts. Some of those, I'd definitely want to see discussed. I'm pretty sure the RDM one has been done already on the RDM forums, but I tend to avoid the job-specific forums as people tend to just QQ over what they don't have or put out entirely stupid ideas for things they "should."

I used to be the "no gear swap guy" but I was shown the facts and I learned, ever since then my DRG has had better numbers all around, this was about 4 years ago....I think :p

I'm amazed people are still clinging to the argument that if they blink the mages won't be able to cure them. Honestly, if your mages can't cure you when you're blinking like a goddamn Christmas tree then those people have no business playing a mage job in the first place.

Yeah everybody starts out that way, the thing is if you're told and you still don't change, you're an idiot. And people calling this Naturebeckles person pretty much that are being treated (by her) like they're assholes for saying so. If you read the thread, it starts out constructive and nice, and the first post by her is inflammatory about how "stupid" it is to use Haste. (Or something. Not gonna look it up.) People told her she was wrong, pointed out why - extremely kindly, by the way - and she threw a fit.

After that, people treated her like a retard who was beyond help, which she pretty much showed herself to be by refusing to learn.

Agreed cid. That problem has been fixed for years.
