Tired, grumpy and utterly disillusioned right now. I'm fine with not being able to do everyone's job, but I'd like options beyond "do the white mage's job".

And i'll tell you what I've told all RDMs, always.

Stop being a spineless and build you own parties. I don't care if you don't like to lead parties, but in games like this to get what you want you have to take initiative. You can play RDM as more than a glorified WHM, the problem is that you expect SE to fix the game so the community accepts what you want.

That is NEVER going to happen if you subject yourself to being led all the time, so stop being a follower.

The community will always favor what is safest, fastest and the most efficient means of doing something - they will not likely favor what is the most fun for you. Guess where that puts RDM? Healing, support,enfeebling and magic bursting. Deal with it.

BTW, I just realized that Blu has access to Battery Charge, which is a self target spell (for mobs anyways) and Diffusion! Diffusion makes self target spells AoE for those who didn't know. Merits can bring down the reuse timer on Diffusion to 10 minutes.

Now I'm just wondering how good Battery Charge is, and how long it lasts. Most likely it won't be worth putting full merits into Diffusion, but it is an interesting thought.

Really excited about some of the new spells for Blu. Some of the new gear looks interesting too.

Ah well, too many things to speculate on and it's gonna be a 9 hr download for me, and I have a job interview type thing tomorrow, so I think I'll wait a bit to go into some of the stuff I'm thinking about.

I agree with what most people in that thread are saying - any time a job gets close to what a PLD can do or do it better, it tends to get nerfed.

Not only that, PLD did get Phalanx. SE doesn't want PLD's spot taken.

Not by NIN
Not by BRD
Not by RDM

Any job that tries to replace PLD next will eventually be struck down, doesn't matter how fun it is to people or how helpful an endgame LS finds it.

Bad enough PLD got dicked for years on EXP and Merits because tanks weren't needed for them, worse is when the premier tank of the game loses its slot in endgame after fighting to get all those merits and EXP capped.

I mean, SE hasn't let PUP surpass MNK or COR surpass RNG in their fields. And why would they?

If RDM can do everyone's job, what's the point to the other 19? Fuck the "jack of all trades" bullshit.

FYI, the CE/VE from Repose was not changed. So WHM can still get his face ripped off from trying to keep something slept. But in my experience, WHM is usually doing something solo or solo-ish when needing to drop sleeps, so emnity shouldn't matter much.

As for the BLM point of view, however, I'm feeling really awesome about the change. 1 CE = face won't get ripped off the instant the DDs finally get around to whatever you were sleeping.

/WHM says "See y'all RDMs at level 96!"

EDIT: download is failing on one file, and I think I may have seen that file mentioned on a 'zam thread. This is not cool. I've never had an update do that before, and it's done that a second time already, but at least the second time was fast.

Well, it's now time for the first of the "Gee, thanks a lot SE" QQ-ing.

My particular one is that they've apparently raised the level of stuff in Lufaise Meadows. In particular, all the Fomor are now listed as 79+. (presumably from dat mining) I don't see any change on the Phomiuna Aqueducts or Sacrarium pages yet, so no telling what they've done in there.

I've been trying to get the stupid Extra-Fine File for a Windurst quest off and on for a couple of weeks now and it simply would not drop. I even had a THF 75 with me for a couple of night cycles, and that didn't help. It is only known to drop off of three of the seven fomor in that part of the zone.

I had developed a routine with my BLM where I would nuke F.W., warp out, duck into my HP, then OP back in (with the free OP kupower). I could get four nukes on him per night, and other than gil, he only ever dropped one got damm Revival Tree Root.

Yeah, like people are going to want to exp on fucking FOMORS. Ones that are grouped in parties of three or four, no less. The only reason people have ever wanted to fight fomors is for panty raids. EDIT: And the storyline excuse for the level caps does NOT apply to Lufaise, dammit! Someone at SE may have just randomly picked them for an "adjustment".

At least the orcs are still at the same level, so it's no harder to clear the hate.

Maybe they didn't change his level and someone who was dat mining got confused with the fomors that pop up by Blueblade Fell. Or maybe SE just fucked up a Windurst quest by requiring you to kill a 75+ mob to get a rare drop for a 4000 gil quest. If my download ever finishes, I suppose I can just do a /check on him.

Haha, pretty much. I was so happy with where my WHM and RDM were (and hell, even my BLM and SMN were quite good, just needed more) when I quit, and had no desire to improve them further, save for some salvage crap that just wouldn't drop.

And seriously I swore off NIN at 37. There was no way in hell I was touching that job for another 12 levels, no fucking way.

Ditto. Nothing I've seen really jumps out at me.

I would laugh so hard if everyone logged in and there was a System Message that said something like, "After several months of leading you on to believe that we'd be increasing the cap, we're totally not. WE DUN TROLL'D Y'ALL!!!1one!!!1"

Cause that would be the most hilarious and epic shit ever.

A lot of stuff jumped out at me, but more in the sense of "Oh hey, that's some nice, rare, expensive stuff you have, too bad we just trashed all of it with stuff that blows it away, oh and go level your subjobs again."

44,500 xp needed to get to level 77. Not too bad...

Much better than the additional 2k needed each level to go from 70 -> 75
