8k an hour on solo Bst or Pup would have been very nice.

    This just blows.

TP burns are hotter than ever... and everything is over camped.... even the CoP and Bibiki Areas, ... I don't think I have to mention ToAu.... u_u

BLMs get the total shaft... bummer. Maybe Echoes and Abyssea will shed some new light on a better way to get xp at the usual 10-20k per hour... Doubtful.

So far, its like SE poured hot grease into a fire that's in a wound that's just freshly healed... as far as xp is concerned.I doubt it dies down for 2-3 mos... "or longer"

Love the new additions, hate the leveling situation. All the 1337 ppl with all their super friends are bogarting camps. I'm not surprised though.

BRD gets to be center stage for me until something changes.... >/ It's brutal making 8k an hour.... oh well, get to suck it up.

Fukkin Mt. Z is the place to be right now apparently..

Can you post a link, or paste some information from your source for those of us who are not trying to be successful IRL, but still cannot see certain web pages due to corporate policies? I want to know more about those pieces of armor and Abyssea in general, and I'd rather waste company time than precious game-time!

Jeez, you summed it up in a nut shell brother ! I took the other route in this case though, and I'm slowly teaching myself that having fun is the reason i play FFXI, hell, the reason I play any video game!

It's been tough, but Being successful in RL, and having slacked off in FFXI has made both things much more enjoyable. I will play FFXIV when It comes out, but I know that I'll never have a relic/mythic, much less multiple ones (or 6 like a dude in my LS has, which is fucking retarded). I still have fun and enjoy getting the next piece of gear but if I don't get it, I don't fret like i would have in the past.

The crit bonuses, sure, they kicked in pretty often; after I counted about 100 hits, I struck criticals 16 times; but this is eyeballing numbers. (Have 2% crit merits anyway,) but I can hit harder, faster going Two-Handed and /SAM and bust out my WS in the process.

My speed was 3.5 for one handed vs 3 for 2 handed (including just haste and haste gear,) 8 tp a hit. The TP bonus was no where to be seen after doing Rampage and getting 12TP back, so I have to assume its a damage modifer, yet again, my damage seemed slightly higher than normal, maybe by 30-40 points.
Was it ever actually confirmed that Fencer only works with one handed weapons? I mean if it did I would have expected to see that in it's description. But as is, all it seems to be designed for is just to be an option over /nin and /dnc. Meaning if it works with Gaxe, it's a great little trait, especially combined with Crit Dmg up...assuming you're not using Restraint.

This change had nothing to do with the community (as you can tell, they're pretty upset by the nerf) and was a purely technical nerfing. Sure against smaller mobs anyone could hit, just about any job can tank. But there are tons of mobs people don't actually melee against, and in those situations, Rdm/Nin, Nin/Rdm, Nin/Drk and Pld/Rdm were great tanking jobs. While I can understand wanting to keep Pld as *the* best tanks, there was absolutely no reason at all to nerf the hate on Black Magic spells used for tanking.

Also, Rdm/Nin was the tank of choice by SE themselves when they made that little AV video. It showed the community that it wasn't just a useful tactic, but one SE themselves openly accepted. They could have simply lessened the CE of the spells in question, not flat out nerf them.

You know who else wasn't meant to be a tank? Nin. But they're still pretty good at tanking. You know who was meant to be a tank? War. And they suck at tanking. You know who made a great tank? Rdms. But they got nerfed in their ability to tank. You know who did get an ability to help with tanking? War. But they still suck at tanking.

    NEWSFLASH!
SE has no idea how to work with tanks. It's something they openly admitted themselves.

I leveled RDM solely to do everything.

On the bright side, though, we at least got some freaking sweet gear for it this update.

Aside from having lost the 'hate tools' Red mage can still do everything else it could before the update.
Don't like it? Plenty of other jobs to pick from.
Another way, you say? This sounds kind of familiar . . . *looks up four posts*

Oh, right, it's the exact same argument verbatim.

And no, I didn't level Red Mage solely to tank - barring the bandwagon pink mages, nobody leveled Red Mage "solely" to do anything! It kind of defeats the purpose of the whole "jack-of-all-trades" thing.

While I very much would have liked to have tanked, that's obviously not what's keeping me on this job as opposed to, say, Paladin. And either way, this update wasn't even about Red Mage! No part of it ever was! That's what September is for, as I have said repeatedly.

What this is entire thing is about, what everybody is objecting to, is S-E axing most of what already few tanking options there are. And this after stating that they wanted more jobs to take on a wider variety of roles at Vanafest. I do not see how you can possibly argue that going in the exact opposite direction of that is a good thing.

Hmm, apparently the campaign xp multiplier at 76+ is x6, which is in line with the previous xp multipliers, and seems to be confirmed by a 'zam post where someone got an exact multiple of 6 xp in a battle.

The x7 multiplier should happen at 91.

All I'm reading here is butthurt about how SE broke the red mage job so I repeat:

Red mage wasn't designed to be a tank job, you had your fun, now get over it and adapt.

    Red mage = not broken.

Now for a real personal opinion:
Hurray for the disappearance of another bandwagon job, I'm looking at you next Samurai!
That's the thing though, I didn't get a chance to have my fun.

I'll agree that losing bandwagon status would be a real plus. I've seen more idiot mages than I care to recall.

Also what BP said about controlling the flow of battle. It's not just about tanking, it's about being able to spit in a mob's eye and say "over here" for a few minutes while you let him wail on your scrawny Stoneskinned ass so the rest of the party can get back on its feet.

S-E seems not just intent on making PLD the best tanking option, but apparently the only option.

But Red Mage's hate tools weren't solely about tanking. Sometimes, it was simply about taking hate to cover someone else.

I've had occasions where our tank/s were preoccupied, and the WHM/BLM/somehow ailing DD were getting beat on by an add, and in I come to get the aggressor's attention, if not dispatch it myself. Not to mention the use of such spells in Campaign. After this update, I'm not sure if even that's possible anymore.

If ever the devs claimed to want to move the job to front line activity, castrating it's enmity tools certainly doesn't indicate such.
