  • FINAL FANTASY XI Update (Nov. 28)

    At the following time, we performed a version update of FINAL FANTASY XI.

    * This update consists of a version upgrade of the client program. When you press the play button after the time stated below, the version upgrade will begin automatically. Please follow the instructions on the screen.

    [Important Update Details]
    - The duration from when the background music changes until a Campaign battle begins has been shortened.

    - The length of time required for a unit to reach the battlefield during a Campaign battle has been increased.

    - The method by which Campaign Arbiters evaluate players has been readjusted, and the maximum amount of experience points and Allied Notes obtainable has been increased.

    - The temporary item "Remedy" distributed to players upon entering a Campaign battle has been changed to an "Instant Reraise".

    - The cost for temporary items distributed in Campaign battles has been adjusted.

    - An issue wherein the TP of certain NPCs in Campaign battles would decrease when performing a ranged attack has been addressed.

    - An issue wherein a stronghold's resource value would not decrease when temporary items were distributed in Campaign battles has been addressed.

    - An issue wherein no background music would play when players would log into an area where a Campaign battle is in progress has been addressed.

    - An issue wherein the NM Gu'Dho Staggershell would not disappear correctly has been addressed.

    - An issue wherein players not in possession of Allied Tags would be attacked by Campaign-related monsters when in combat with normal monsters has been addressed.

    - Players can now speak with the relevant Campaign NPC to check the time remaining until they can be issued additional Op Credits.

    - A stronghold's resources will no longer be decreased as readily.

    - The strength of certain monsters in the new Wings of the Goddess areas has been adjusted.

    - An issue wherein mandragora-type monsters in the new Wings of the Goddess areas were attacking players for unintended reasons has been addressed.

    - An issues wherein Orcs, Quadav, and Yagudo in the new Wings of the Goddess areas would fail to disappear correctly when outside their normal range of activity has been addressed.

    - An issue wherein the effective range of monster abilities which target the monster was excessively large under certain conditions has been addressed.

    - An issue wherein the attributes of the monster in the Assault mission "Better than One" drastically increased under certain conditions has been addressed.

    - The penalty to Accuracy for the weapon skills "Guillotine" and "Penta Thrust" has been removed.

    - An issue wherein pets would not respond correctly to the beastmaster command "Sic" when in the new Wings of the Goddess areas has been addressed.

    - TP for resting automaton and wyverns will no longer decrease.

    - An issue wherein the maximum number of charges for the scholar ability "Stratagems" was not functioning correctly has been addressed.

    - The drop rates of smildon hides and lynx hides has been adjusted.

    - The attributes for the "ebisu fishing rod" have once again been adjusted.

    - The Pankration Tournament champion can no longer check the starting time for the next match.

    - An issue wherein the amount of time remaining in the reception period of Fish Ranking was not being displayed correctly has been addressed.

    - An issue wherein chocobo graphics were not properly displayed in the new Wings of the Goddess areas has been addressed.

    - An issue wherein the "Default Size" button was not functioning correctly when the window was maximized or minimized in window mode has been addressed.

    - An issue wherein window size would not adjust properly while holding the shift key in window mode has been addressed.

    - An issue wherein plural items would be displayed in the singular has been addressed.

    - The issue wherein the terms "Burrow" and "Bore" were reversed in the display shown by the Chocobet NPCs when asked for race chocobo information has been addressed.

    - A variety of other issues have also been addressed.

    Some good fixes here, but Campaign Battles are seriously lame now.

    They happen much less frequently now, and usually by the time I see one up on my /cmap (which takes forever to update... how about fixing that SE?) the fight is usually already over.

    It's so god damn stupid. I've managed to make to one battle so far in time, and that's only because a PT member was already there. The mobs were taking too long before to arrive, now they arrive too quickly.

    Hopefully SE will see this and adjust it accordingly. Damn the people QQing over how they happened too often. Seriously, it was fine and realistic (considering how fast time progresses in Vana'diel)

    I haven't been able to find out what the new EXP and AN caps are for battles, but it better be well over 1K 'cause this is bull crap.

    Hasn't this already happened? If so, hasn't this already been posted, or were people lazy when it was announced?

    Weren't these also already addressed (my puppet's TP hasn't dropped since the update before WoG came out, I don't know about Wyverns), or am I just hallucinating again?

      Not to my knowledge. There's a topic about the maintenance, but i didn't see a topic addressing the update.

        I was QQing not because I don't like campaign but because of that music that I have to listen to every time it comes on. It's about 25% louder than all other in game music and it's the same in every zone. It got old very quickly. I don't want to turn my other music off and if I delete just that file I won't have any idea if campaign is starting in my area. This is the real problem that needs to be fixed.

          Damn that's a lot of fixes. But at least Guillo and Penta's accuracy problem has been resolved. But now we wait for the SAMs to whine about SE not un-nerfing them.

            Yes but Campaign Battles are officially gay now. I absolutely refuse to partake in them now until SE fixes them unless I just happen to be in the area at the time it starts.

            The hell if I'm going to waste hundreds of notes to warp to the battlefields only to find the fight is over.

              That and they should come in swarms with numbers like how that mammet ENM to the ppl in the area and would increase/decrease with ppl coming and going.

                It's funny how quickly they put out patches to break stuff but when it comes to fixing this you know it's going to take at least 2+ months.

                  Any word on how the strength of mobs was changed in the new areas?

                      WTF? They implemented a penalty? I thought they said they were doing something to adjust both of these WS's accuracy because DRKs and DRGs were already having a helluva time with them. Perhaps I need to test out my DRK damage again and see if I can land more than 2 hits with Acc+52 as a 2 hander.

                        So how bad is the time duration until the Beastmen invade? I won't be able to get back until Sat and it's a shame I wasn't able to partake in that constant warfare defending San d' Oria. >.>

                          Seriously though, it really does suck. The waits are long, the /cmap takes entirely too long to update, and the fights barely last 5 minutes now if that (assuming you don't have any NPCs to defend. Then it's over in 30 seconds on anything but the Dark Kindred)

                          Speaking of which, they need to be seriously toned down. They're tougher than lv 8 Besieged mobs for Christ sake. Damn Gnats just cut through us like a hot knife through butter.

                            Well blame S-E for not pro-rating their charges in the middle of the month. I love FFXI but I'm not going to double charge my bill when Nov is almost over.
