Re: FINAL FANTASY XI Update (Nov. 28)

Maybe with higher recon you'll get warning messages like Besieged. Obviously fighting blind sucks - but if they're going to implement recon at all, not doing any recon *should* suck, or what would be the point of doing it?

If everyone (or everyone in a past mercenary unit) knows where the orcs are going and when they'll get there as soon as they step out of Davoi (or maybe even sooner, while they're still mustering their forces), that'd be very different.

<SystemMessage> Allied Forces spies report that Conqueror Bakgodek is planning to attack the San d'Orian base in Jugner Forest. The Orcish Hosts are estimated to arrive in 18 hours (43 minutes Earth time).

If recon *doesn't* do that or something like it, it damn well should; but until we know what it does do, it seems premature to criticize SE because armies with no recon are stuck reacting to enemy attacks after they happen. Duh, that's what happens to armies with no recon; that's why real armies, if they are competent, scout and spy on their enemies *constantly*.

Comparing the monster difficulty to Besieged is funny, though. How many servers lose the AC even once a month? Level 8 Besieged is a freaking joke - there's one or two difficult mobs, which you don't have to kill to win, some minor NMs that take a little teamwork to beat, and a bunch of trash mobs which might one-shot a couple people before their inevitable deaths, or they might not. If the Shadowlord's armies were *that* weak, it wouldn't be a war at all; Maat would just solo them and go home. Of course Campaign is going to be harder.
Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh, 6/6 Nyzul Bosses
    RDM90, PLD90, DRG90, COR90, SCH90, BLU54
All Nations Rank 10, ZMs & PMs Complete, AUMs Complete, Captain, Nyzul Floor 100 (5 Weapons, 4 WS), Medal of Altana, WotG Mission 15, 1/3 Addons Complete, 9/9 Abyssea Main Quests, 6/6 Caturae

People are still just starting the expansion. There was NOTHING realistic about Campaign taking place at such a high rate.I think this is just a measure to let players get the barrings and they'll eventually scale it back up a little.

They lowered the frequency of Campaign, but raised the EXP and Allied notes you get in return. Also remember that we're not done getting all the zones, when we get the full range of zones the rate of conflicts will likely increase and be more widespread. But if if they were as frequent as they were before with those zones added, we'd lose more ground than we would likely gain. I think SE wants us to have a chance at claiming that territory now and getting used to the system before expanding it.

Try being realistic before you start complaining.

        Bull shit BBQ.

It might have been a tad too fast, but they've definitely made it far too slow. SE went from 1 extreme to the next. And again, if you consider how often it happens in vana'diel time it makes sense. The beastmen are supposed to be relentless.

They're big, they're scary, and they out number and hate us. I for one immensely enjoyed the hectic atmosphere of the battlefield before SE came in with their meddling, basically giving in to all the ppl QQing.

I especially hate the recent changes to the NPCs. IMO, the SCH NPCs shouldn't even be there when Eldieme isn't controlled by one of the allies. It doesn't make sense for them to, and it gives people a reason to get off their asses and help the war effort rather than just AFKing in the zone.

God forbid we get something for once that is fast paced and doesn't take all day. I wasn't bored for a moment on Tuesday (last day b4 Campaign Battle became suck) jumping from battle to battle. It was tiring after a while I'll admit, but it's just too much damn fun kicking ass in the name of San d'Oria ^^ (we're just owning Seraph. Bastok is about to get sacked this coming Monday)

I really hate the recent changes. The /cmap takes too long to update, and since the beastmen arrive sooner, I'm rarely able to make it to a battlefield in time. They still haven't fixed the aggro problem either, as a friend of mine got hit and died just before she got her tags and lost all the EXP she earned that day as a result.

To add to that, despite doing a lot of damage and even scoring a few kills, I can't ever seem to get over 500. My average is 100-300 EXP now, as opposed to a steady 600. How in the hell anyone hits 1000+ (especially when the fights barely last 1 or 2 minutes and the NPCs just obliterate the mobs) is beyond me.

Change it the fuck back SE. I'm not alone either. The general consensus on Seraph is the same. We all hate the new changes.
