Yeah the things that are stopping me from really just joining in right away are concerns about the UK/EU population there (since I realistically can and should only really be playing at US times on weekends) and also the fact that I will have to start from scratch which in itself is a pain with the fatigue system since you will always be playing catch up.

Basically I just don't want to have to stay up until 4-5am just to get anything done like when I started playing FFXI again and joined Ygg's LS

Half of our LS of 50+ members are from the UK and elsewhere in EU (Mostly from UK, though) There's also Dux (Dux Dux) with his own LS but he's also a member of our LS and he has pretty much an "all UK/EU" guild. You will not have a problem finding someone to play with.

Cool, I've been wanting to give the game another go. I've been looking over the new jobs and I really like the new Bard since it reminds me a lot of COR. Shame there's no Thief class since I do like playing Rogue classes but oh well. I might reinstall and update over the weekend and at the very least give the server a try.

At least you are keeping an open mind and trying it out. I hope it appeals to you in someway to make it worth the initial investment (the modest subscription fee) As for forum members, Etra, Yyg and maybe Mala (of course Dux but he has some weird hours) should be on when you get on so there should be someone to chat with. I'm way off your schedule so we probably will never see each other on unless you log on early morning your way (I don't usually log on to the game during the mornings when it will be evening for you) In any event, happy hunting and have fun!

The sub fee isn't a problem for now since I have a ton of Crysta that I bought and then was pissed to discover that the game had no sub fee and I couldn't get a refund on that.

FFXIV is a game I've always seen potential in and like it for what it could be so I'm always willing to take a look at it and see if I can get into it every now and then. Like I said, there's no harm in me at least trying the game how it is now.

I think playing catch up might be painful but if there's no fatigue it shouldn't be too bad. Do leves still have a really long cooldown or did they change that?

When you come back you should have like... 99 leve.. slots? Anyways, you can go out and complete a bunch, then head back to town and pick up another group of them and head back out. You can level pretty damn quickly on leves.

I have no characters on Ragnarok so I will basically be starting form scratch.

Okay so I didn't realise they basically changed the armory system to basically the FFV/XI system and mobs give a decent amount of XP this time to boot!

Also animations and frame rates are much more smooth and attacks no longer seem to take ages to execute. First impressions on my return are good thus far.

Eh all I'll miss from my other character is gil, I didn't have a job higher than 20 on my old chaarcter anyway.
