4 new Fighter Jobs confirmed. FFXIV has at least 20 jobs?
Re: 4 new Fighter Jobs confirmed. FFXIV has at least 20 jobs?
I don't think having armor sets available instead of individual pieces would be such a bad thing. Specially considering how Fugly my current melee set looks like on XI.
FFXI-2 goodness with hume female sphere change animations would be pretty ok if you ask me.
...Not like we know anything at all about how exactly it will work. For all we know it being an alpha test they just went with gear sets because characters had to be wearing something, same with all the other screenshots.
PS > I just hope I get to see RDM AF-ish gear soon though.
What bothers me the most so far is that they seem to have pre-defined looks for each Class...
Even though people tend to use the same stuff in XI (because it's effective) at least you were totally free to change how you look, even if it's just for kicks. I don't want to play an Archer for example, and have to wear that stupid hat all the time.
yeah they need the similar wow option to remove headgear, so you not wearing shit that just looks damn right fugly.

It's not entirely clear from the shot but I believe the first character has a dagger on his left hip rather than being weaponless. The costume is as rogue-like as it is bard-like.
I hope not. It was bad enough being a Thf when 90% of the best gear was Harnesses and Subligar, now Rogue classes will have to wear frills and lace? )=
I really think they are shying away from calling anything a job to try to break the stigma of MMORPGs consuming your time like a second job
To me, it seems they want to break away from people calling them "Jobs" to stop people from thinking like they were Sam or Blu or Brd and such. Strict, job specific sets of stats, abilities and gear with linear, numerical based progression. Instead, they want people to focus on a character using a weapon and abilities based around said weapon. So instead of thinking of it as a Warrior job because it has a giant axe, it would just be an Axe using class. Like how it's a Swordfighter, because it fights with a sword and it doesn't have any implications towards previous FF Jobs and what they entail. It's just a guy who's good with a sword, which makes it different then Plds, Rdms, Blus and Wars.
That being said, I can totally see an eventual mix-and-match set up of learned abilities, where your main "Class" is based on your equiped weapon, but you could have sub abilities based on previous "classes" you've leveled. Similar to FFV, if you want to have that fencing Rdm, you'd need to have Swordfighter and Mage classes leveled and mix-and-match the abilities. But this is just baseless speculation at this point.
Re: 4 new Fighter Jobs confirmed. FFXIV has at least 20 jobs?
I'm highly concerned that they plan to go down a path similar to WoW where each class has its own abilities/spells which are tweaked through a talent tree. I'd much prefer being able to choose which trees I want to use to create my character. For instance if I used a weapon in my main hand, I'd be primarily focused down a 1h melee path, but if I left my off hand free, I'd also have access to a magic path.
For the last time.. IT'S CALLED CLASSES!! Do you want them to send a real life ninja to your house and correct you!?!?
well they said players are given a Title based on their skill set and current equipped weapon so a Title/Job are pretty much the same.
Of course it's yet to be seen if skills between classes can be combined as the same skill set, because I read somewhere you can't use magic without equipping a staff. or maybe that is until you mastered the ability.
I have figured out the Class system. This know sounds like it will almost universally allow players to make almost any Job they want (at least based on what Jobs were possible in FFs that had a Job system.)
that includes Mystic Knight, Time Mage, Geomancer, etc. etc.
The possibilities are only limited by the weapons and skills/abilities included in the content.
Even if your preferred combination of skills gives you a different "in-game title" for your Job, for example,
if you are dual-wielding Katanas, throwing shurikens, and using magic that fits in with your Ninja fantasies,
you are very much the Ninja you wanted to be.
THIS IS BEYOND MAGNIFICENT!!!!!!!!!!!! ^-^
They said nothing about Time Mage, Geomancer, etc. This is how rumors get started. Yes I think that you assign your skill points and the manner in which you assign them determines what job you are. They alluded to that in the interviews. Beyond that we'll just have to wait and see.
