Im a little bit confused....

Ok, so i was lvling my SMN, in a desprate attempt to get to 20 (i was 17 i think this time) in the Dunes, so of course, i was asked to be the WHM.......and after explaining to them several times i didnt have Cure II, i agree'd. for lack of anything else to do. Anyways, it was a pretty good party, the BLM helped me out when he had MP, and we were pulling gobs, and TP builder Lizards up by secret beach, when all of a sudden, i look up, and see a guy walking by...not running..walking. My first thought was "Ahh, blast, hes gonna take our gobs probabaly on his way to Gustav.."

Then when i targted him, his name turns yellow "Doman, (maybe it was Dolan, not sure) and my party goes wild with excitment,

WAR: OMG OMG OMG, ITS A NM GET IT!!!
Me: Err..i dont know of any NM name....
WAR: STFU you! its a NM! i know one when i see it!
THF: It has to be, imma go pull it!
Me: Look, i really dont think that this is a good idea....

At this point, my Japanese RNG friend, who was standing next to me, had dissapeard. (He zoned into Selbina about 30 seconds later =P)

Me: Hey......where Kriren go?
WAR: PULL PULL PULL!!!

So the THF comes running back, all excited, and i see this thing coming running up to us...one huge, warhammer type weapon in its hands. Thing looked exactly like me...cept it had black skin, and i remebered a friend telling me about Dark Stalkers looking me sorta. So, i start to run, get 2 steps, and Doman had killed the WAR, THF, and BLM, all in like, 4 seconds, but never touched me, since i didnt have time to cast Carby...or anything

My friend (same friend as before) told me it was the WHM AF1 NM, so the point of this hole post is. (besides for good fun).....how could he have gotten by there? I thought he was a spawned mob, and even if he killed the AF questing WHM, shouldnt he despawn? o.O im just kinda confused about that, either way, it was a interesting night

You've got the name wrong. The WHM AF1 NM is indeed spawned on the secret beach in Valkurm Dunes, but his name is Marchelute.

There's no reason for that NM to ever appear unless someone spawns him, however. I can only imagine that someone tried to do so, was getting owned, and ran past you with the NM in pursuit.

Oh, and the NM is level ~45ish. I hope the WAR in your party learned something about attacking strange NMs that they know nothing about.

Heh, Aye..., i hope he learned something, though the odds are he didnt I didnt see anyone he was chasin, but i was busy tryin to figure out my role in the party as the only healer, when i just glanced up and saw him go by

.....as a side note.....something like this happened to me again last night, but i have a feeling no one would believe me, heh, since being attacked by 1 random/crazy AF NM is enough, but honestly, it did happen <<not the same place and NM, but bah, i do not have good luck with AF NM's which makes me wonder how badely i'll be beaten down when i go for BLM AF =P

Doman in fact is spawned in Valkurm Dunes, it's a mob for the Samurai Af boots. http://ffo.warcry.com/scripts/images...=21807&site=21

Since the quest is for lvl 52 samurai armor... it would have killed that noob warrior so fast... lol :sweat:

I don't like that guy. I was by Gustav's zone at like lvl 45, and i was going to go afk, i though nothing in valkurm would aggro, so i went afk without thinking twice. I come back to my computer and im standing infront of the moghouse in Jeuno. I checked the log... he aggro'd me and kick the crap out of me :p... just another reason to hate Valkurm.

Ah. Never done SAM AF2. SAM aren't terribly common, and all the ones in my LS did them before they joined, didn't realize it was even there, lol! Thanks for the correction!

Either way, attacking strange NMs is always a good way to die in a very messy fashion. I once saw a level 40 WAR get pasted by Bloodtear. When I asked him why he attacked it, he said "I kill the normal ones easily all the time, didn't think the NM version would be too much harder."

What those kind of players need to understand.. that even though the NM is a few levels below you., or is at your level.. it's still...SIIPTG++++++.... Then that fun mentallity of "NM = $$$, I'm all alone with it! ME FIGHT!!"

I still remember learning that lesson myself.

It was Steelface that held the lecture and we were 40 something, on our way to Gustav. We kinda mistook it for a tremor ram. -_-;;

I wish I could see my own face when it took our pally down to red in a single hit. Good thing our PLD had Invincible handy and the WHM teleported the party to safety.


Although I wish SE had made HNM somehow different then regular NM, like a different name tag colour...

Steelface, Bloodtear, the Sea Horror (/shudder) Doman, and now one of the NM Spiders form the NIN AF1 quests, if i never ran into a HNM, or even a NM that could kill me ever again, i'd be happy

^^They really should have differnt name tags, though, then it would take all the fun away from watching newbs attack Bloodtear, or cause massive headaches to mentors explaning that those type of NM's shouldnt be touched, unless ye want to die
