Find yourself some nice JP friends

    I was in a JP group, 1 RDM's, 1BLM, 1SMN, 1WHM, 1WAR, 1THF

Chain 4-5's everytime in Garliage, the trick is distrubution of duties. Set out who does what during a fight, RDM was the debuffer, BLM debuffed some at start then went to nuke's, I would toss 1 or 2 debuffs then switch to Regen and healing, SMN would backup heal for me and keep the group up with Enthunder and Blink, WAR and THF kept aggro 90% of the time. With smart players and good equipment there is no downtime, when you see your tanks getting hit for 70-80 all the time in Garlaige somethings wrong, the war was getting hit for 40-70.

WAR/PLD as main tank or a really good NIN or kiss uber xp goodbye.

I just try to keep them in the white during battle... and then normally cast Regen on them afterwards... downtime does suck, but there's not a whole lot that can be done about it sometimes =\

Just to reiterate what the others have said, paralyze/slow/blind work wonders. Slow/paralyze especially, if they land successfully.

I would suggest doing beetles at 35, or 34 if your party is very coordinated, which yours didn't sound like it was. :-\ 33 really is the best time for Garliage. 30-33 you can still do okay in 2nd jungle at Kazham, chaining gobbies or the odd mangradora.

Anyway, as long as you're keeping them in the white, it's okay. You don't have to get them to 100% each time. You neglected to say this, so sorry if you do do this, was just saying.

Apart from that, it sounds like you're doing it fine, it was just your party that brought it down. When you party with a paladin, the difference is much more noticeable. The paladin has sentinel, increased def bonuses, and if he's a good pally, will use cures on himself to increase hate, and keep the mob focused on him. In Garliage, this means that there is only 1 person in the entire party who gets injured in the fight, if he chain provokes. The puller might take a hit or two on the way back, but that's it. Regen + Cure II, after getting off para/slow, and you should be fine.

Essentially, lack of main tank and consistent provoking resulted in what happened for you.

I put the blame mostly on the two blackmages. Your PT setup might not have been the best in regards to the tank, but once you're in it, it still could have been passable. You had PLENTY of net MP in the party. But the BLM just weren't pulling their weight (they sucked :p). There's no reason you should have been the only one healing with three mages in the party. If they helped on cures, that not only helps in lessening hate for themselves (a pause in nuking) but alleviates WHM hate. And more importantly, it gives a better overall MP distribution, so you're all around the same percentage for better downtime and efficiency. It's sad how many NA BLM haven't grasped this yet. Just like there's tons of tanks that DO NOT provoke every thirty seconds. What are they thinking?? Those BLM weren't thinking about the whole of the party and overall downtime. I just hope they were doing debuffs at least, while nuking.
            I am still a noob. T_T
